What has been said and done to this point is in line with expectations.

In a similar position Mr Howard gave people who lost their homes or were injured a $1,000 and $400 for children.

This was generous but would not have come to $1,000,000 as the first responce. Their is also a commitment to assist with the rebuild and with other relief funds already available in standard disaster relief situations.

This is not an area I think should be used for dishonest political point scoring, the previous Liberals did well for people in disaster situations and this government is likely to do the same.

Normally, I would share your confidence. But this is Gillard and more than any PM in recent memory, she is a vindictive and unpleasant person. In this respect she reminds me of Whitlam who wouldnt break his christmas holidays to deal witht he Darwin Cyclone.

Whitlam was in China - he went to Darwin for 48 hrs - some said it was insufficient - His changes to disaster support about 15 months earlier funded the rebuild of Darwin.

Your assessment of Gillard would not find wide support in my opinion and I would think even if potentially correct it does not justify politicising this disaster before any genuine criticism is due..

anyone even remotely close to politics knows that 'perception is reality' and that Whitlam refusing to take charge was very badly accepted by the public.

and im not politicising the flood. Im saying i have a low opinion of Gillard's integrity. I am not alone in that not can you say that there isnt reason to beleive so.

I thought Queenslanders were part of the USA (North America)?
With NT being owned by Asia,
WA owned by Europe,
SA owned by the Middle-East
Tassie owned by Africa
NSW owned by South America
and Victoria owned by New Zealand and the rest of Oceania right up to Central America and the Carribbean. Grin

As for the ACT ...well thats the Shire thats owned by the Hobbits that live under that grassy knoll known as Bag End.  Grin Cheesy
