Should Queenslanders declare themselves Indonesians or at the very least ask for a grant to build Islamic schools?

Yes, the federal government were very generous in their assistance to Queenslanders who lost everything in the floods weren't they.
Just a real pity we aren't classed as Indonesians.
Unbelievable.

Regional Queensland is never a high priority with any government. We shouldn't expect much and we won't be disappointed.

Don't you think that you are being just a tad premature to score political points on this issue?
The flood-waters are still rising in many areas and the damage is yet to be assessed. In many cases the damage is still yet to happen.
I think you will find that once the flooding subsides and the damage is known that there will be a lot more government assistance.

Well I am all for governments using public money to benefit all aussies, but I guess we should demand that they do a Cost Benefit Analysis before handing out our money. Wink

Aside from the jibe at the obvious hypocrisy of our extremist loons, I know that all aussies will rally around and support those who are suffering now, because as aussies it is just what we do, and we all send our best wishes and hopes for the safety and well being of all the folk effected by, and struggling through the severe queensland floods.

you are the one sounding like an extremist loon. for u it seems to be all or nothing. a CBA for every minor govt spend - eg on a pencil or NO CBA at all - even for a $43B project.

grow up.

Nothing could be further from the truth, the Nats were very good at returning some of the profits to the regions. The ALP has, as usual, been a train wreck. These useless "people" sent the State broke during record boom times, while infastructure has slid backwards through neglect, incompetance, and corruption.

I have serious doubts that the left will ever evolve to the point where they comprehend that leadership requires more than a big mouth, safety glasses, a hard hat, and a vagina.

The parsimony practiced by the Gillard/Brown government to ease the plight of Queenslanders is a national embarrassment. I think she will find more dosh after the critics got stuck into her.

What has been said and done to this point is in line with expectations.

In a similar position Mr Howard gave people who lost their homes or were injured a $1,000 and $400 for children.

This was generous but would not have come to $1,000,000 as the first responce. Their is also a commitment to assist with the rebuild and with other relief funds already available in standard disaster relief situations.

This is not an area I think should be used for dishonest political point scoring, the previous Liberals did well for people in disaster situations and this government is likely to do the same.
