Putting my comment in context, there's nothing in the link provided in the opening post that suggests Gillard is responsible. It's just a few quotes asserting she's to blame. It's quite easy to shout slogans like "guilty!" and "I blame so and so!", but at least give your audience the bare requisite of some evidence or argument.
"Controversial former Australian politician Pauline Hanson says the government's weak policies on asylum seekers are to blame for the deaths of dozens of people off the coast of Christmas Island."
That is the opening paragraph in the article. if you plot the boat arrival numbers against policies, you will see that there is a direct causal link between weak policies and increased arrivals as well as policies discouiraging boats and reduced boat arrivals.
Gillard has been responsible for government policies since 2007, as Deputy PM and as PM. She IS the head of government and was the deputy head of government. You don't get more responsible for policies than that.
Quote:However, where's the responsibility of those on the boat and the smugglers?
They wouldn't risk it if they didn't think the only thing at the end of the journey was deportation.
Quote:It's obvious you hate Gillard. I mean, who cares who she's banging, and who cares how big her arse is? What's that got to do with a boat load of people smashing into rocks and dying? Don't tell me you're going to link some kind of character reference to the two issues? That's ridiculous. That's even worse than Bolt's cause and effect argument. Using that "logic", we can blame the Iraq war on Howard's eyebrows.
I think she is pathetically incompetent and completely out of her depth. Not because of the hair and the barber boyfriend and the arse - but these are symptoms of her inadequacy and trashy outlook. I certainly can't take her seriously as a national leader. She looks and sounds like the OH&S manager of a regional town council. SO she can't afford to be
also incompetent. But she is.
