Under the federal government's plan to put a price on carbon, the price of energy sources such as petrol, electricity and gas 'MAY' become more expensive. Would you personally be in favour or against paying more for energy sources such as petrol, electricity and gas if it would slow global warming?


So it's a question about people being willing to pay more for energy.

Nothing to do with global warming.

77% of people believe that climate change is occurring and 94% of them believe that it is mostly caused by humans.
Even a majority of Coalition supporters believe in human induced climate change.
All this despite the massively funded campaign by the cashed up mining and oil lobbies to try and discredit human induced climate change.

And the Greens vote still at 14%. I guess that would explain all the threads by the right wingers attacking them.

Two points ....

Only half of these would be willing to make any sacrifice to try and help in minimising the effect

Its more so "why should we pay through the nose and put massive pressure on the cost of living and business when the USA, China and India produce more in a day each than we do a year and will have no such restrictions on their businesses and cost of living

China could back binding carbon target


China is prepared to make its voluntary carbon emissions target part of a binding United Nations resolution, a senior negotiator said.

The concession may pressure developed countries to extend the Kyoto Protocol.

The ongoing UN climate talks in Mexico hinge on agreement to cement national emissions targets after 2012, when the present round of Kyoto carbon caps end.

Kyoto binds the emissions of nearly 40 developed countries.

Developing countries want to extend the protocol, but some industrialised nations, including Japan, Russia and Canada, want a separate new agreement that regulates the emissions of all nations.

China has previously rejected making its domestic emissions goals binding.

But Huang Huikang, the Chinese foreign ministry's envoy for climate change talks, says a resolution could be created that would be binding on China.

"We can even have a legally-binding decision. We can discuss the specific form. We can make our efforts a part of international efforts," he said.

"Our view is that to address these concerns, there's no need to overturn the Kyoto Protocol and start all over again."

Fact : Chinese Coal Power emissions will peak this decade ... when will Australia's?

Fact : Climate change will effect China, like Australia, Hard and Early.

Fact : China is doing more than Australia to capture the future revenue from the renewable energy sector




Fact : Liberal Neo Cons are using China as a smokescreen to hide behind.

Neo Cons are in a tiny minority in that they don't want progress in the Australian economy, that neo cons want to inflict destructive influences on every Australian's future super payout, that neo cons want food costs to spiral out of control. Liberal Neo Cons are the closest we have in this country to eco terrorists.

Lets hope the majority small l Liberals take back their party from the backward looking neo cons Liberals ASAP.
