A bomb blast inside an Afghan military base in the country's east has killed at least two US-led NATO troopers and several Afghan soldiers.
The attack took place in Gardez, the capital of Paktia Province, a Press TV correspondent reported on Sunday.
A NATO spokesman says another six soldiers from the alliance have been wounded. The nationalities of the wounded and killed soldiers are unknown.
The Taliban say they were behind the explosion, claiming they killed fifteen foreign troops and 20 Afghan soldiers.
A total of 677 foreign soldiers have been killed in the Afghan war so far this year. This record stood at 521 in 2009.
The US military has lost 1,415 soldiers in Afghanistan since the war began in October 2001.
As casualties have risen in Afghanistan over the past few months, public opinion has begun turning against the war in the United States and other countries.
In a separate development, US-led foreign forces have killed an Afghan child in the country's Ghazni Province.
Local witnesses say the girl was killed in a NATO military operation. The military alliance has confirmed a civilian loss of life in southeast Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Afghan officials say a Taliban commander and two other militants were killed during the operation.
However, the Taliban have not yet confirmed the deaths.
Foreign forces are under criticism for causing civilian casualties in the war-torn country.
A United Nations report says over 1,200 Afghan civilians lost their lives in the first half of 2010.
