There is no doubt that white people love coffee. Yes, it’s true that asians like iced coffee and people of all races enjoy it. But I promise you that the first person at your school to drink coffee was a white person. You could kind of tell they didn’t enjoy it, but they did it anyways until they liked it – like cigarettes.

White people all need Starbucks, Second Cup or Coffee Bean. They are also fond of saying “you do NOT want to see me before I get my morning coffee.” White guys will also call it anything but coffee: “rocket fuel,” “java,” “joe,” “black gold,” and so forth. It’s pretty garbage all around.

If you want to go for extra points – white people really love FAIR TRADE coffee, because paying the extra $2 means they are making a difference.

Wouldn't coffee snobbery usually consisting of hating on chains like Starbucks and the Coffee Bean (of which we have neither in Perth anyway). Incidentally, that hate would be justified, because they're poo.

That's the problem with that stuff white people like page, it's as if it wasn't written exclusively in the 1990's for nobody other than Americans.

Well maybe so, but everybody can relate to it. There is a SWPLer equivalent in every Western nation.

Here, I tend to associate the kind of people who vote for the greens (and their peers) with SWPLers.

You can subdivide the SWPL class into two groups; hipster SWPLers and Yuppie SWPLers. I would assume the hipster SWPLers would be the ones that dunk on Starbucks, etc.

I'm confused now. I don't vote Greens. I don't like Starbucks and like good coffee. I don't feel it necessary to tell people I like good coffee (unless asked).

I own some jeans that are slim, but I hate skinny jeans. I don't have a fringe or own a guitar. I collect vinyl records.

Maybe living in Perth, it's just a case of not having hipster SWPLers or yuppie SWPLers.

Or maybe I'm still finding myself and need to go to Thailand or some business.

Or maybe I'm over analysing this.

Or maybe I'm tired, and need a cup of coffee?

Pfffft. You obviously haven't drunk coffee (the bean type isn't important) based upon the distilled tears of forty-three virgins and using the frothed (I prefer to call it "teased") breast milk of former super models.

Hell, it's expensive, but it's worth it.

Yes food and coffee snobbery is terrible, I just make do with cold baked beans and muddy water from a puddle.

I actually love coffee, and like muso considered having a decent coffee machine that grinds the beans fresh for each cup, an essential investment.

I have mine strong and white, and if I sometimes have a frothy coffee, a latte or a cappucino, I also have a sugar in those, because frothy just seems to be suited to having a little sweetener in it.

I dislike Dark Roasted Italian style coffee, and was told by an acquaintance who had a coffee import business, that this style developed because of the shortages and deprivations of the second world war, where people mixed other stuff in to try and make their beans stretch further, and they became accustomed to the bitterness that these impurities added to the flavour.

Coffex Brand is not very expensive, and has a smooth full flavour, and my wife insists on buying Lavazza from time to time, which I do not like much.
I have also had some Coles home brand beans, "You'll love Coles", that were also nice, and very cheap, but I have not tried that again for a couple of years, so it may have been a happy coincidence that they packed some good beans in at the time, or maybe it is consistently good, but I do know that just price is no guarantee of getting a better bean, you just need to try a few, and buy the ones you like.

Just to clarify things: I love my coffee as much as I love my hard drugs.

Sadly, I have an affliction where I only really appreciate coffee that I've paid to have made for me (same deal with sandwiches), so anything I brew up at home seems distinctly second rate.

For takeaways its always a double shot latte. Dining in it's a short black or macchiato.

Geeze, I should probably feel inadequate because I settle for making my coffee from a teaspoon out of a $1.99 jar of instant coffee from Aldi - which I usually nuke 'n' guzzle in latte form...

I really don't like the muddy 'n' bitter flavour of freshly-brewed coffee...

Not a big fan of lavazza either, tastes too watery.

I've found the best value beans in the supermarket to be Harris Espresso.

Those super models are a bit hard to milk with those tiny little udders too!

Not quite. The alamid is a type of civet. Alamid coffee is made from coffee beans that have been 'passed' by the alamid.

- Still pretty disgusting though.

Yes, I agree. You can either drink coffee or get all stuck up and have 'highland instant' or nocciola or a thousand other inventions appealing to nothing but the inner snob, wanting to be seen to be distinguished even when having a coffee.

Snobs are a marketers dream.

I drink my coffee at home - and at work. I just like the taste of good coffee. As for nocciola, I was just helping Anne find it. I like hazelnut syrup in icecream or on pancakes, but not in coffee.

There is no snobbery involved. I used to drink Nescafe instant.  I also tried Moccona instant, which is better. International Roast tastes like horse piss. Now that I drink freshly ground Colombian blend coffee, all instant coffee tastes like International Roast.  That's a fact.

Coffee made from freshly ground coffee beans straight from the fridge is more of an experience rather than a taste. Instant coffee loses a lot of the aromas in the manufacturing.

Try Colombian blend.

Value has two components - quality and price. You'll find Colombian blend better value overall.
