WOW!!!! and cods said that I'm sad. I think the debt will be written off and we will start from scratch. It will be a different system to the free trade capitalism that we now know doesn't work. The near future will be full of grief for many but humanity will battle through it, I really don't think we will eat each other, well I hope not, human can be so tough if it's not cooked properly.

Bias,
Those are two outcomes and they may not be absolutely shackled together.

It is possible that life or at least the Global Economy, as we know it, may be coming to an end, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there is no coming back for humanity!

Percepts, my apologies, there was more to the end of that article ....

It's over. There is no coming back from this. The only thing that can happen is a total and complete collapse of EVERYTHING we now know, and humanity starts from scratch. And if you think that this collapse is going to play out without one hell of a big hot war, you are sadly, sadly mistaken.

Here is an intellectually honest trader who was interviewed this morning by the BBC. As much as you may not want to believe it, what this guy says is correct. This iteration of human civilization is approaching an end.

Yes, I did see that and I wasn't critising, just observing that the outcomes were not yet extinction level, although there may well be a great deal of nasty outcomes taking place, including wars.

You mean this one ?

Occupy Wall Street is a growing group of protesters that want the 1% of the greed brigade to pay for the 99% who are copping the blame. I'm sure that as time goes by there will be many more groups formed to show their anger and discontent with the system that allowed this to happen.
................................................................................
..

Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants.

As members of the 99 percent, we occupy Wall Street as a symbolic gesture of our discontent with the current economic and political climate and as an example of a better world to come. Therefore we invite the public, our fellow 99 percent, to join us in a march on SATURDAY AT THREE, starting from LIBERTY PLAZA (ZUCCOTTI PARK) at LIBERTY & BROADWAY.

Occupy Wall Street has recently come into the media spotlight, not because of our political message, but because certain high-ranking members of the NYPD punched, threw, and stepped on peaceful marchers. Arrestees were handcuffed so tight their hands turned blue. Many of these people have yet to regain feeling in their extremities. A senior police officer infamously forced women into pens and maced them at point-blank range. While we vehemently condemn these abuses of power, we urge all who read this to remain focused on our intended message. Abuse of power is abuse of power. Whether perpetrated by Wall Street bankers or members of the NYPD, it is the duty of all citizens to oppose injustice. We condemn the actions of unprofessional police who used excessive force in subduing a peaceful march. But we are foremost here to oppose the growing power of the ruling class.

Let us also be clear that, when approached as individuals, members of the NYPD have expressed solidarity with our cause. It has been inspiring to receive this support. Over these thirteen days, we have learned that no one supports corporations’ disproportionate influence in the political sphere. We have learned that no one is in favor of evicting struggling families to the street while banks continue to profit. No one, that is, except the corporations and banks. We urge members of the NYPD to remain in solidarity with our cause. These men and women could lose their pensions and benefits during the next round of budget cuts. We ask that members of the NYPD treat all peaceful human beings with respect and care. This will be a great step towards reclaiming power for the working class. Those who profit off the suffering of others will held accountable. We are the 99%, and we are too big to fail.

ALL Ords lowest since July, 2009

At just after 11am, the ALL ords hit 3,973.90, which is the first time back below 4,000 since July, 2009.
http://www.google.com/finance?q=INDEXASX:XAO

The ALL Ords have since recovered somewhat, to be trading around 4,000, following a rise in DOW Futures.
http://www.forexpros.com/indices/us-30-futures-advanced-chart

That said, the Truth is, given the volatility of recent trading, anything is possible?

As I have said previously, I expect the ALL Ords, in line with other markets, will re-test their March, 2009, in the short term (prior to the end of 2012), which would see the All Ords at or under 3,111.

However, in the slightly longer term, I expect markets to re-trace their levels prior to the start of this current bubble, which could see the ALL Ords hit the low 2,000's or even something with a 1 handle at the start?

DOW rises 115 points in minutes - Why?

In just a few minutes, the DOW has gone up some 115 points!
http://www.google.com/finance?q=INDEXDJX:.DJI

Any good news out?

DOW Finishes down 258

Well, the Truth was, NO good news came out, but someone may have been trying to influence the market, which doesn't seem to have succeeded.

http://chart.finance.yahoo.com/zs=%5eDJI&t=1d&q=l&l=on&z=l&a=v&p=s&lang=en-AU&region=AU

That makes nearly 500 points or 4.5% in the last 2 days trading.

Given US & European markets performances overnight, the OZ markets are likely to take another hammering today, unless someone pulls a rabit out  of the hat, by talking up something that is not going to resolve the current major Economic influencing Factors.

Anyhow, unless DOW Futures rise, for some reason, the ALL Ords will probably fall around 75-90 points today.

Good luck & watch the Debt!

It looks like all the rabbits are out. What next? The China saviour thingy didn't work at all. Someone MUST come up with a solution, we can't have the market collapsing before our very eyes.

It may be more appropriate to say, we don't WANT to see the market collapsing before our very eyes!

However, just because we want something, doesn't automatically make it a reality!

In this instance, TPTB want the Exponential Growth Fairy to continue forever.

But, just because they want it, will not make it so, as we are now in the process of finding out!

Market woes: Dollar dives and shares slump

12.15pm: There's lots of talk about the Australian dollar this morning which has dropped to its lowest level in a year. Some strategists are predicting that it could even fall below 90 US cents in coming weeks.

At 12.05pm it's trading just above 95 US cents. The reason for this weakness is as the global financial markets show more volatility investors are flocking back to safe havens, away from the Aussie.

A close eye will be kept on the RBA verdict on rates today at 2.30pm, if there is any change it will lead to more selling pressure on the dollar.

11.25am: Speaking of Scoville's reference to American Airlines below, the stock of the airline's parent company AMR Corp got smashed overnight over concerns they may file for bankrupcy. Shares plunged almost 40 per cent at one point. This comes as ACCC last week approved Qantas Airways' proposed alliance with American Airlines on trans-Pacific routes.

11.17am: Gold has regained its safe haven status.

It rose two per cent yesterday and is on track for its first three-day winning streak in a month, after its worst monthly loss in two years. The spot price of gold in Sydney was $US1664.6 per fine ounce, up $US30.72 from yesterday's close of $US1633.88.

Australia's biggest gold miner Newcrest Mining was among one of the only green spots on the market, up 56 cents, or 1.7 per cent, to $34.12.

As Jack Scoville of Price Futures Group said on Sky Business this morning:

"Investors flocked back to the safe haven of Gold as they watched everything else around them crash and burn. Especially with the things like American Airlines shares plunging people figured they might as well go and buy some more gold."

Interest rates left on hold.

The RBA are patiently waiting for things to get a little bit worse before they lower the interest rates.
