PS - what is with the booing of Kevin Pietersen???

I was wondering that myself. Were the boos coming from the Aussie fans or the English?

Maybe they just need a villian to boo and Pietersen just seems like a booable character  Undecided

Finally we have turned up.

This is the England I have been watching for the past 2 years, I don't know who those blokes with the dodgy shot selections were yesterday.

Clarke is playing (clearly injured) because I think he believes with the maelstorm about him needing to be dropped etc that if he goes out of the team now he may not get back in.

Saying that, it was like watching a slow death with him.

He was clearly out with the inside edge, he rode that luck by the skin of his teeth. He was beaten around off-stump about 4 times and he was nearly caught.

His innings was a shambles and you'd think if he doesn't score in the 2nd innings, the Australian selectors have a discussion ahead of them that they'd rather not have.

We have a huge morning ahead.
If we can get either or both of Hussey and Haddin out we could rattle through the bowlers and end up level pegging going into the second innings.

If we don't get them out, there is a danger of 150+ runs deficit here.

Wink Why is Andrei barracking for the Poms?

I have heard that you can get your Australian Citizenship revoked for such heinous crimes.

England are the stronger team, we are in big trouble for the series.

Clarke has to go, we need 2 fresh bowlers for the next test.
Our guys are tired.

I think you did it right.

Aussie has to WIN the series to regain the Ashes.
The onus is on us.
England only has to draw to maintain them.

Our bowlers are already fatigued.
Come the next test, mentally ........ England are streets ahead.

It's going to be an interesting couple of days.

We'll play the same side as this first test and go to Adelaide ready.

Australia, I feel, will spend the next few days arguing about who is to drop, who is to stay etc etc

This is a bizarre full circle because I grew up seeing the exact opposite.

If I recall rightly, I think in one Ashes series we had three captains....

Australian second Test squad: Ricky Ponting (c), Shane Watson, Simon Katich, Michael Clarke, Mike Hussey, Marcus North, Brad Haddin, Mitchell Johnson, Xavier Doherty, Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Harris.

Drop clarke and johnson
they should not be in the 13
