Manchester has a lot of blacks.

Didn't seem that way when I was over there.

Evidently, in 2005, less than 2% of people living in Greater Manchester were Black (though I don't see why it matters, given some of the most "British" people I met were black).

Australia needs a Government will balls enough to say to the international community that Australia will not be accepting anymore boat people regardless of circumstances, and will ONLY accept those individuals who waiting in refugee camps.

All boat people arriving in Australian waters illegally will be taken back to their place of departure.

Do this a couple of times and the message will soon sink in that Australia is no longer an easy touch.

End of story!

If the clowns running the UN don’t like it, then they can build special refugee camps next to their homes at their expense.

Australia needs to grow up and stop acting like a baby on its mother tit.

Agreed.

I was cycling around the Dubbo Western Plains Zoo once and ran into a couple from London. They were talking to me about how great Australia is and how great Dubbo was in particular. The subject of what the U.K is like came up and they told me that living there is a game of "spot the Englishman".

If they were from London, they're either full of sh!t, or very, very thick.

Take a walk down Brixton, Vauxhall, Whitechapel, Edmonton or Acton lately Jay.

Doesn't resemble England does it?

I have never understood why people think it is a good idea to allow these urchins into the country.

They arrive with nothing so we pay for their housing, we pay for their living expenses, they have no skills so we'll never be paid back.

Quite frankly they are other countries' garbage and if they have seen the good sense to see the back of them - why on earth do we want them?

Oh yeah they are 'fleeing war zones' right?

Interesting that 99% of them are male. So these guys have left behind the women and children to this war zone.

What heroes.

Yes - they said the same about European Jews in WWII.

They live in ghettoes. They live in rank, diseased conditions. Their corpses attract the flies.

We don't want them.

Thing is, it's not representative of all of London now, is it. Going to a few low income areas, and taking note of the demographics, isn't the same as saying "it's become a case of spot the Englishman".

At the end of the day, Britain's population still consists of over 80% white British people. Then there's the simple fact that having darker skin doesn't necessarily exclude one from being as British, if not more so, than many others.

But Karnal, it does beg the question WHY would you abandon your family (wife/children etc) and destroy all your documentation, before you paid the AU$10k to get on a leaky boat....

How exactly is that my problem though?
What is my problem is the fact they turn up with nothing and my taxes go towards paying for them instead of my own people.

How many of them actually destroy their documentation? What are they told prior to arriving in the destination? The whole subject is quiet difficult, but I suspect that not everything is ALWAYS as sinister (though in some cases it might well be) as some make out.

I can tell you why some of them leave their families behind though - "they" (and I say "they" knowing it's impossible to speak for all the migrants) genuinely believe that they will be able to arrive in Australia, set themselves up, and be able to send money and have their families sent over. Given the role of women in some of these cultures, it's not difficult to see why the men don't send their wives and/or children over on their own, is it.

Let's be fair though Jay...Most of the refugees come from countries where you need 2 or 3 forms of ID to walk down the streets (and use a public toilet) and where the police can stop you and demand indentity papers whenever they feel like it...
The same situation that the 'big brother' nutters rave about whenever the 'Australia Card' is mentioned....

If you can't buy milk without carrying an ID card, what are the chances that you'd 'forget' to grab it when you ran for the border????
