Palestinians are still stateless refugees in Arab countries and have a much better chance of becoming Queen Elizabeth's subjects here or in Canada than becoming the loyal subjects of any of the Arab kings or princes.

I get fed up to the backteeth with all the sermonising on here.. whilst all the time sitting in their comfortable little 3 beddy. doing absolutely nothing for these wretches they claim everyone should bend over backwards for..

I personally think we do bend over backwards.. we are a small country by overseas standards. we give heaps in overseas aid..none of which seem to end up where its meant to end up.

weve gone to war, in the vain hope we are helping people to become a democratic society. instead of helping themselves to help free their fellow man from dictatorship/death. they choose to run and leave most of the woman aged and children unprotected to face goodness only knows what.because the men have chosen to flee.

and we are expected to harbour these men [or be called racist pigs amongst many things].without taking the care to scrutinise these people very carefully to keep our own borders safe. it takes too long and thats not fair to them being held in detention.[sob sob]

do we really want someone with T.B. or aids wandering around our country without out knowledge.is that really ok with all our dogooders?

what about serial rapists. ex convicts..paedos..all welcome I am sure.

There's only so much enriching non - English speaking, uneducated, and untrained people can do.

I just don't know when I will be able to use this newly acquired 'cultural enrichment' though, but I remain hopeful that one day we will have Gibbon monkeys in our parks.
But lets face it, if these people are not learning or earning, they are just a drain to our economy and finite resources.
And there is no getting away from that.

For the sake of balance, it might help if you thought why women and children were left behind. The predominant mind set amongst these refugees (and indeed many people), is that the adult male is better placed to settle in a foreign land, raise money, and work to have the remainder of his family sent over. It is also not uncommon for the male to be in more immediate danger - especially in times of conflict, due to the role of the man in war(s). Admittedly, this doesn't take into consideration the potential for sexual violence against women.

Also, these refugees (ALL OF THEM) are subject to health tests before entering the country. Quiet thorough health tests actually, which include testing for such illnesses. Decisions are then made accordingly.

In any case, your assertion that they'll be walking around without "our" knowledge isn't entirely correct. The government and health authorities are aware, and beyond that, it's not really your business (just as you're not aware of the health of other individuals, Australian or otherwise).

Incidentally, if we stop the wrist-flapping for just one moment, it probably doesn't hurt to ask whether or not the overall picture of health in Australia (particularly relating to infectious diseases), is drastically impacted by those claiming refugee status. I would think not.

Anyway, as you were.

Clearly many people who do feel strongly about the fair treatment of refugees do open their hearts, wallets and houses to them.
People who feel strongly about not wanting to help or support asylum seekers are just as welcome to air their views as we have seen at the earlier meetings at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills.
I have an issue with my tax dollars being doled out to lazy long term intergenerational welfare cheats which as it turns out are predominately white anglo's but I certainly dont lose any sleep over it. Even though these people are a far bigger drain on the public purse than any asylum seekers have ever been I know my efforts are best directed at Australians who have the get up and go to want to make a future for themselves and their families.
After all..Migrants built modern Australia and have made it the great place it is so if some white trash welfare cheats want to sit at home pumping out kids, swilling back wine coolers and whining about new Australians just as their parents and grandparents did before them..its no skin off my teeth

Anti Asylum Seekers protestors are just as welcome to stand in front of the fence at Inverbrackie holding up "GO HOME REFFO" signs but dont be surprised to find your outnumbered by friendly church goers and refugee support groups from all over the Woodside and Adelaide Hills areas.

PS its good to see the Neo Nationalist thugs who took up so much news time at the Woodside meetings have gone back to Davoren Park and Hackam West where they belong
