'Most of these alleged refugees to places such as Canada, Australia and Europe are hardcore LTTE people.

The Tigers are trying to regroup to keep the movement alive because of the success of our military engagement in Sri Lanka.

If these are so called refugees, where are the women and children?

It is for these reasons we have, as a Government, requested to the host nations that these people are denied entry and sent back to Sri Lanka to face the justice that is demanded by our people.'

Exactly. The problem with all these third world despots is that they think they can take on us.

Sure, we'll let them take care of their own kind - but on our terms, got it? Once they come into our territory they're ours, and we can do whatever we damned well want.

I'm not having Charcoal Charlie dictate our laws for us. We decide who comes into our country, not some corrupt High Commissioner from Timbukfvckintu.

The Department of Immigration, Migration and Multicultural Affairs decides who comes into this country, and the circumstances in which they come.

Who is likely to be more abreast of the situation with suspected Tamil Tigers posing as refugees?

People on this messageboard thousands of miles away who have never been to Sri Lanka.

Or a member of the Sri Lankan High Commission??

I am wondering where all those who lambasted Howard over the Tampa on yahoo are thinking now..

8 dead and to see that boat being chopped up like matchwood is horrendous..

this has got nothing to do with how anyone feels.. but everything to do with Govt Policy..these boats havent been stopped no matter what the likes of rudd and gillard have spouted, in fact I would say they have got more frequent.. to all those that say we should welcome these people arriving here on these boats.. take a look at this one, take a look at the sea..70 people on a boat this size and worth... and you think thats ok..

I think its a crime and it starts in Indonesia with a lot of help from the rudd govt.

One of the ABC radio presenters just about choked to have to say that children were overboard. They would not ever admit that children were thrown overboard to force the hand of the navy and yet here we have a real life drama played out in full colour and children are indeed overboard not to mention that 50 poor souls have drowned just metres from land.

I do feel sorry for those that drowned but really, they had no business coming here illegally in the first place. Why are the networks rushing to the greens for comment on this situation.
