But where are they now?
When Howard was PM the armchair critics were in abundance. Jill Singer, Julian Burnside, Robert Manne were screaming from the rafters about the treatment to boat people, yet there weren't many deaths.
But under the Rudd/Gillard open door policy more boat people have died, at least 59.
The deafening silence from Singer, Burnside and co is truly amazing.

With the constant arrivals of these illegal boat people perhaps Julia Gillard's plan afterall is that people will just not bother about them and give up.
Well it certainly looks like Julia Gillard has given up, as still no developement has occured at all on East Timor where Julia Gillard declared she would stop them there.
Instead Julia Gillard is building more detention centres in Australia to house them.

And the John Howard Pacific Solution solved the whole issue!
