At the end of the day, egotistical ALP's republicans  and more than half of Libs (the republican faction) have played into the hands of China.

And whether or not they can see this, this and can put their wounded ego's aside for the better good of our country is questionable to say the least.

We need to launch into some sort of long-term damage control strategy, but so long as we have our republican dreamers and idealists waging their own war on what's left of our economy, I cant see this happening under a current government.

Chinas work is almost done!

Mantra, how many of our government bonds has the ALP sold off to China, in the last 3 years.

Do you know?

Good question Mel. No - I don't know - but if this information is dredged up - there would have to be some comparable figures left over from the Coalition.

For some reason or another, our current government refuses to release this information, just as they refused to release the details as to who owns what, including what's left of our water-rights, ie, Murray-Darling and wild rivers.

Perhaps you could ask them why they aren't willing to disclose this information Mantra.

China funded Rudds campaign Mantra.

This is not speculation, it's a fact.

In exchange for government bonds.

Agreed.

The unions funded most of the 2007 Labor campaign. If the Chinese had - it would have made front page news and Labor wouldn't have gotten in.

I know that some Labor candidate somewhere in NSW received funding off a Chinese businesswoman - but it was returned.

A little - and yes there was something in the media about us selling bonds to the Chinese. Whether there's any truth in this - who knows?

I'm reminded by Ronald Reagan's famous quote about do-gooder Governments – Governments like Labors who want to control every aspect of our lives, this and sell their actions within the moral framework of ..... Quote:
“doing what's best for you because we know better”
- Reagan

And remember, the nine most terrifying words in the English language are.... Quote:
"I'm from the government and I'm here to help!"

Next time, think before you vote.

Mantra, if there were no truth in it, then why didn't they deny China having funded their campaign, this or their selling off our government bonds to them?

Roll Eyes Sometimes, it's what they don't say that's more concerning.

That may not have anything to do with the donation coming from a chinese person.
Lots of donations get returned at election time as it depends how the donator is giving their money so as not to be seen as a 'bribe' or as 'compromising' the candidate.
As we sent hundreds of donations to various candidates of one party but had a letter attached to it. That letter could have been seen as 'compromising' so the donations were all returned.

True Mellie, for all of the blustering about 'financial performance' etc of the one-term Labor Government - all thank you cards for avoiding a recession should be addressed to Mr J Howard, Mr P Costello and the Chairman of the People's Committee, Beijing.

Basically China buying minerals kept Australia out of recession.

It had next to bugger all to do with that 3/4 term PM's 'stimulus package'.

May explain why the people soundly rejected them after one term.....

Anyway Mantra, I hope I have left you with something to delve into today, I have to head off now...   so I might drop back in again later on.

I think China have done a fantastic job of dividing and conquering,(however subtly)  this and rendering us needy and suggestive in all the right places.

If we lose our sovereignty, our identity, what makes us uniquely us, 'Australian' ... it will be of our own cruelling.

Undecided Cheers
