Several colonies of the greatest political establishment ever to exist; the British empire.

Ah - the British Empire.

What happened to that, then?

I hate to spoil your party Imp, but there was no "unified continent"white Australia for the first 130 years either, ever heard of federation? it didn't happen until 1901.

And your point is.........?

It died.

Just like the West is dying. Sad

I don't know either.

Still, there was political unity in the sense that those colonies were still ruled ultimately by a single body.

But Karnal, it does beg the question WHY would you abandon your family (wife/children etc) and destroy all your documentation, before you paid the AU$10k to get on a leaky boat....

How many of them actually destroy their documentation? What are they told prior to arriving in the destination? The whole subject is quiet difficult, but I suspect that not everything is ALWAYS as sinister (though in some cases it might well be) as some make out.

I can tell you why some of them leave their families behind though - "they" (and I say "they" knowing it's impossible to speak for all the migrants) genuinely believe that they will be able to arrive in Australia, set themselves up, and be able to send money and have their families sent over. Given the role of women in some of these cultures, it's not difficult to see why the men don't send their wives and/or children over on their own, is it.

Let's be fair though Jay...Most of the refugees come from countries where you need 2 or 3 forms of ID to walk down the streets (and use a public toilet) and where the police can stop you and demand indentity papers whenever they feel like it...
The same situation that the 'big brother' nutters rave about whenever the 'Australia Card' is mentioned....

If you can't buy milk without carrying an ID card, what are the chances that you'd 'forget' to grab it when you ran for the border????

No doubt that people intentionally dispose of their identification papers, but it's pretty reasonable to ask why, beyond making the claims that they're destroyed in an attempt to deceive their intended country of arrival - Australia - and essentially "hide" prior indiscretions.

If I don't respond to a post directed toward me, it's probably because I've gone offline, not because I'm rude.&&&&Or maybe I don't like you. In which case, sod off. Ta.

Yeah, I know you don't care. You're probably cheering for it actually.

I care. Though I'll admit it is getting harder and harder for me to.

I'll be alright. I'll teach English to the little yellow bastards. Chop chop.

And I won't be paying any taxes for you useless, unemployed timewasters, either.

Andre Hick is right. It's all about simple economics. We shouldn't have to pay to cure the n!ggers, gooks and spicks.

I'll be looking after my own family, thank you very much.

Oh I can read alright fella...but please explain how the date of federation is relevant?  Still doesn't mean there was any aboriginal nation does it?

Fact remains we're a white nation, whetehr we've been a nation for 100 or 1000 years.

Sounds like you're a wicked family supremacist to me. Besides the fact that you're genetically related to them, why do they matter to you? You don't choose who your mother, father and uncle are. Being proud of them or wanting to support them or see the best for them is antiquated and offensive.

There's no such thing as an immediate family anyway. There is more variation when one loci is considered between families than within families. Your own brother may have brown hair, and you may have blonde hair. There is some person somewhere in Sweden with blonde hair. Therefore, if you consider that you share the gene that is responsible for blonde hair with the random, Swedish stranger and not your brother, therefore you are more genetically related to the random Swedish stranger than your own brother.

Family is an antiquated, supremacist concept used to justify things such as nepotism.  Wink

You might remember a little legal decision known as Mabo.

Sadly, in the law, it does.

naaah I don't think so.

If I own my house and land, that doesn't equate to my house and land being a nation in itself does it?

Cos that's the bow you're drawing here....

As I've already said - let's have a referendum on this issue and see exactly what the majority of Australians think.

A referendum would only be of use if the voters were adequately informed about the issue.

This report would be a good start:

As the aborigines have also been found outside Australia, in Europe and Asia, we all cant wait for the aborigines to make a mabo title claim overseas.......but guess other countries arent as stupid as ours.
