I wonder how many headlines this will deliver?!!?

Go Boom Go! Go HARD!!! Bugger the children, go economic good times and put the rent up whenever you can: that's what you invested for!

Let us import more people and then we can put up the rent even more! GO GO GO!

What's that: skills shortage.............. more workers form overseas then! More housing needed and more increases in rent and more money for the portfolio!

How was Andrew Forrest telling Australia that his was a small company the other day then he quickly had to tame the audience by correcting himself and say ,'...it was...' !??!

LOL!

The terrorists will never get sick of poking holes at our hypocritcal freedoms!

Death - this is great news for shoppers & air travelers.
Not so good for exporters.

Just imagine the Xmas bargains this year?

Ho hum. It's a psychological barrier. There is not much difference between 98 cents and $1.01. Why the big hoohaw about reaching parity?

It's been hovering around parity for the last month and it has been over 90 cents for much of the year. So now that it reaches parity, we suddenly have this article than says that we have a strong dollar?

Maybe we should have a parity party. What's a good atheist boy like you doing celebrating Xmas? Give them parity presents instead.

Word is getting around the world that Australia is the place now where to get rich. Boat and plane loads of people will be arriving in droves to get rich.

I hear what you're saying, although..

The time to get rich was when the market was down and the currency was low. Early 2009 was a good time to buy extra Super (to the max) while the unit prices were down.

History has shown that they will always recover. The good thing about the GFC (scary as it was) was that as long as you were employed, it provided an opportunity to buy cheap and reap the benefits when the market recovered.

We'll get another opportunity of course.

I still like it.
Where will we go from here?
Perhaps $1.50 in one years time with the way the Yanks are printing money.

It's about time the Yuan went that way too. It's artificially low, and it's totally crazy to have it at that level.

Well it's great when you're on Ebay.
The prices are lower than the shops here anyway.
It's still much cheaper even when you add the postage.
I just got a delivery today from Ebay & I'm thrilled with my purchase.
I think Ebay will put many people out of business.

I know someone who runs a video shop in a major shopping center. They are paying $1000 a day in rent to keep the shop open but reckons they will have to close soon. There is lots of traffic but not many people buying Sad Probably people are buying online from Amazon and Ebay !!

I think there will be a huge paradigm shift in the way that retailing is done in the future and a lot of existing shops will close !!

Hi Nail.
Also Ebay has a greater choice.
I would be worried if I was a retailer.
Also look at Amazon.
You don't just have 1000 books to pick from in a shop -
you have millions to chose from - and videos etc etc.

The interent has changed everything.

And Amazon has an infinitely larger variety than any outlet here Smiley

I think it is the death knell for a lot of shops. People are now just going to shopping centers for a coffee and some window shopping Wink

and sales. If the big retail outlets, DJ's, Myer etc didn't have constant sales they'd go bust right now. This Christmas will be the straw that breaks the camels back, especially with the rate rise.
