It became operative on Christmas day, 1991.

Well there is a large slice of Australian Culture that percieves the act of being 'poor' as an excuse to be 'nasty'.
Take the Tale of Two Cities for example: Melbourne & Sydney
I have lived in both.
In Sydney, I somehow percieve the rich as being hardworking and nice, but the poor as being nasty and ungrateful.
In Melbourne is is the reverse.
How do I come to this perception?

Well maybe it is the 'Police' factor?
I think Sydney Police are culturally brought up to aim for the top and hence why the 'Upper Class' are on their best behaviour ...and probably why you get 'riots' at street-level in Sydney and the Cops aren't really trained to meet such adversity.
In Melbourne, the so-called Westie (or Bogun) comes across a bit more behaved, possibly due to the Police being very 'street-level' culturally
(Hell, I think if we had Melbourne Cops in Mt Druitt - I think things would have been a lot different) ...and probably why crime is more 'organised' in the Upper Class of Melb' and guys like Packer, Rivkin, Skase, Grollo Bros, etc prefer Melbourne. Although brought up in the rough and tumble of Mt Druitt -Houso capital of Australia, west of Sydney ...I was always thinking twice about catching a train out to Heidelberg around Melbourne, for fear of the 'rich' boys "Cruisng this neighbourhood and think 'clubbing' is done with a length of wood" (TISM).

I would take a guess then that the majority of complaints against Centrelink emanate from the Sydney 'culture' and these would be indeed the ungrateful scumbags that is so cliche'. They can be so bad that they rob other poor people rather than get some balls and take a pot shot at the Lodge.

Might be more to do with the Victorian Police' love affair with dispensing VFL; Very Fast Lead.  'BANG' 'BANG' BANG' Stop Victorian Police.

It's Bogan btw.

Though, if you would like me to post it again, this opposed to impressing the link...then here, by all means......

..... there's a book you may be lucky enough to get your hands on, it's called "One Man Banned" the best of Peter Sawyer, whistle blower  edited by Brian Wilshire.

It delves into the persecution of one public servant (worked at Centrelink) who dared to tell the truth, this and how he was screwed over by both sides of our government, our media, CIA, ASIO, and how our government at the time changed an Act to have him charged with "making a false and misleading statement with the intent of making a false and misleading statement" with the cooperation of the opposition, only to have reversed the act after his charges were dropped, under the 'forced' condition he pleaded guilty to the charge. He had been working with our federal police, and was told by our government that he would be rewarded generously(career wise, with back-pay for wages lost whilst assisting the federal police and government) for alerting them to the corruption and assisting them with a parliamentary and federal enquiry and "White Paper" of which was later disposed of.
It also talks about how on September 25th, 1991, Governor General, Bill Hayden, using the excuse of the external affairs powers, gave Royal Assent to the International Government on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), and how this is effectively Australia's new Bill Of Rights. Is that quote not a derivative of When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty?

It has been printed, as you have quoted, on the backs of hundreds of bogan vehicles.  It's the next Southern Cross/Unit/Frangipani/My Family sticker.

No, it's within the introduction of the book, I just wanted to give others a little insight as to what the books about.

Both sides of government did their best to ban 2 of his publications, and if you read it, (I doubt you will find a copy anyway)... you might understand why.

See, we don't write about politics, politicians, corporations, law, federal departments the way we used to here in Australia, and over the past few months, I have been delving into retro-pre 1991 Australian political literature...and have observed the stark contrast between pre-1991 publications to the more recent PC ,censored and 'lilly-white' stuff being published now.

It's amazing, and to think, we Australians used to have balls...well, until 1991 when our 'revised' Bill Of Rights came into effect, and without so much as a headline.

Sorry to have bothered you with this stuff, if it's not your thing, but I love my books and when I find something of interest, I like to share them with others.

Yeah seems a lot of good quality Australian culture suddenly vanished after the 70's, I noticed it on the bookshelves too. Sports biographies are a good example - it use to be a practice that only 'champions or legends' had their lives replicated via the odd Book, but now it seems every sports player has an autobiography out after just a few seasons of playing as they all aim to be celebrities and what-nots ...and what is to read about em? Absolutely nothing!

I have an Ulladulla sticker.

Reminds me of the Justin Biebers of this world who have two
hits and are writing their autobiographies before they're twenty.

Never could see the point of it, myself.

hi.
IN GENERAL.

yes, 1991. Keating took over.
recession we had to have.
et al.

since then, we've been populated by dummies from Asia and the Arab states.
Dummies. Dummies.
Political Correctness.........

know why?

EASIER TO CONTROL.

anglos here, YES WE BUILT THIS PLACE, were considered too smart.
SO, undermine them. (and this is from other better placed anglo's)

dumb the lot down - make it easier to control.

DONE.

australia is now run by buggerWITS for buggerWITS.

get it yet, pll, get it?

with love.
j.

hi,
yes you are right.
the country WAS different then.
and BETTER.
all the arts have suffered/disappeared since then.
no movies, music and books.
at least, nothing of any consequence.

i'm now making it my business to tell young ppl to QUESTION EVERYTHING that the govt does.

btw, i'm STILL active in certain areas and the fact that these areas are STILL successful for me is certain proof i'm right.
j.
