A Resonable Pay Rise Would End The Work Bans.
Sep 18th, 2010 at 10:56am

The union representing hospital cleaners and orderlies says the quickest way to end the work to rule bans operating in WA hospitals is to offer staff a reasonable pay rise.

The Health Department says it does not believe the bans contributed to yesterday's ambulance ramping but it is urging the Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union to abandon them to ease pressure on the health system.

The workers want a $50 a week pay rise but have been offered $19.

LHMU Assistant Secretary Carolyn Smith says the easiest way to solve the problem is to offer the workers a fair pay rise.

"If the Government and the Health Department want this issue resolved, they need to sit down, they need to offer these workers a decent pay rise," she said.

The Health Minister Kim Hames says negotiations with the union have been fast-tracked and is urging its members to end their strike action.

"We've never had this sort of problem before and so we'd be asking them just to back off and just do the normal negotiations because it's just not safe for patients to be waiting to get treatment," he said.

Which drugs does one need to take to see the connection between hospital cleaners and the CEO of the Commonwealth Bank?
