Whats more important really?

I think without a stable economy, a lightening fast NBN will never reveal itself,(well, not as promised) especially now that it's been revealed to contain more holes than a pair of warn socks.

So you do not see that a well run country could incorporate NMN ?

I believe the basis of any 'viable' project is a sound economy.

The operative word being 'viable' here.

We will not have a stable economy without future proofing our  telecommunications infrastructure .. The world communicates and does the majority of business via the internet , every other country know this and are racing to do the same by providing a service that will see them through ...

Australia was once the leader in IT &T but over the years we have slipped to 12th ... If we want to develop as a country in the modern world and boost our own economy further we need to have infrastructure that can handle it for the next 20 + years ..

Culldav,
Are you aware that some media presentations can be presented, like the following, for immediate use?

All you do, is highlight the http address with your cursor and then hit the Insert media button, which is top left, five in, just to the right of the insert email button and you then get the following when posting.

We want a stable economy and fast internet thanks. What's Abbott's idea of keeping up with the modern world? tin cans on string to communicate. He's got to get with the times, boardshorts and super fast internet.

His main aim is to make it as hard for labor to run the country as he can, and this attitude won't win him popularity. It will do him more harm than if he tried to get along for the good of the country. He's just proven that the  two independents made the right decision.

Its pretty obvious that to have businesses, education and health in this country running efficiently into the future that the NBN is essential.

The country cannot afford to miss out just because the Libs cant stand the thought of another 3 yrs in opposition.

Another area / benefit people might not realise is if we get these rural /  regional areas setup infrastructure wise , people are more likely to move their , setup business's , employ people , create new jobs and free up the congested city living..

These areas are dieing but the NBN would breathe life back into them and have the communities grow again which in turn would boost our economy.. Their are many people who do not want to live in the city areas and only do so due to work / commute  arrangements  , if they had the option of decent services ad be able to live in the rural / regional areas they would

Its a good thing Abbott wasn't around when we were building the original rail and road systems crisscrossing this country or we would still be kicking around on dirt tracks and moving goods around this country on pack mules, bullock carts and camel trains.
Imagine the primitive infrastructure in places like Afghanistan and you  will have a picture of what this country would look like today if  Abbott was one of our founding fathers  Smiley

I doubt we would have set up a national and international telephone system in the country under Abbott because homing pigeons could have done the same job..a little slower of course but think of all the money we would have saved over the last 100yrs  Smiley

I think Australians want a competent government ...this and know they are unlikely to achieve stability with a GALP minority government...making radical policies this and screwing with our constitution.
