SOME things are cheaper????

Here everything is cheaper!!!

I paid 75c per litre to fill up my car on Tues. What do you pay?

You know why? Because Australia charges 84c in the dollar tax and the USA charges less than half that.

The USA SHOULD charge more tax on petrol.

Anything to discourage the gas guzzling mentality of americans , diminish their reliance on foreign oil , encourage research and development into green technology and alleviate the environmental costs of car pollution.

You're mad aren't you?
Schwarzenegger is getting heat for gasoline being over $2 per gallon as it is!

No , not mad at all.

Americans pay too little for petrol and as such use it like water.

I can tell you right here and now, no politician in this state (or any other) is going to suggest we get taxed more for gasoline.
If they do, they should be handed the jobs section of the newspaper.

And Andrei..that is precisely why the whole of the USA is relying on borrowing from the savings of the working class in China to keep afloat .
That cant go on forever, so one day..taxes will have to increase to pay back the Chinese or the country will end up a poor cousin to Cuba  Tongue

I find it hard to believe that you are defending a public system that never comes close to recouping the actual cost of running that system.
The only possible result is spiraling, out of control state and federal debt and that is exactly where the USA is at the moment.

Probably.

Which is why things will only get worse.

Selfless and far sighted voting choices are not something to expect from the US.

I am pointing out with clarity that my cost of living in California is almost half that of the same lifestyle in Australia.

My family and myself are far better off in the USA than Australia.

Looking at macro economic factors doesn't necessarily translate onto the family unit.

At the end of the day, we care about our own families and how it affects us.
Yes of course we take an interest in others and want well for them but where is our priorities?

I note nobody denies that the costs to me here are infinitely lower than costs to you there?

Australia is expensive, there is no other way of putting it.

Even compared to the UK it is expensive.
