Deborah do you realize that the Greens want an ETS which will mean we, the everyday Australian family, will have to pay more for our energy?

Can you tell me why it is s a GOOD thing to make us all pay more??

It s your choice what you pay, if you want to continue to use traditional power sources you'll pay more, and that's a good thing.
There are things much more important than your hip pocket, now the GREENS are part of gov we should see some real action on climate change ,the future of our children is more important than an extra 20 or 30 bucks in YOUR pocket.

It is never good, but neither was the GST.
Someone has to pay for what we rip out of the environment, and you don't want the mining tax. If you want things like sustainable forests and renewable energy resources. You have to put something back. If it is not acceptable for the big companies to do this, then who is left?

Just consider one fact, when you discuss your lovely environment -

All of the reductions made by the developed world in emissions from the Kyoto Protocol were wiped out FIVE TIMES over by the People's Republic Of China emissions increases.

Now tell me again how making our energy bills more expensive is going to save the world on its own?

My last gas bill in Australia was over A$600 for just over one quarter.

That's to heat a four bedroom house through the Melbourne winter.

Now you think we should pay MORE?????

You're bloody crazy man.

PS - In the state of California I pay HALF what I do in Australia for energy. Why is this?

I'll tell you - sensible pricing and an attitude based around looking after the everyday American family.

How is it my choice?
Do I keep the lights off? Sit in the dark?
Not turn the heating on and sitin my coat at home?

I don't think some of you live in the real world?
I can pay it, we've got loads of spare money as a family unit but what about the poor sods who can't afford these increases?

We make life unbearable for them just to chase some eco fad?

Do you know who actually won? Not the ALP, not the Libs, but the Australian people.

A minority government will be much more accountable than if any one party had a majority. Regardless of which party got the nod from the independants, their every move would be closely monitored. At least neither can have the arrogance to claim a mandate, because there was no mandate.

The bastards are just going to have to stay honest to survive.

Good grief! Do you think you are going to get anywhere speaking so sensibly?

Please edit this post by adding some swearing, belittlement of others financial or social status and presumed qualifications to comment on their government's policies and spending.

This is just intellectual pr1ck teasing so you are on short notice for a ban.

And your answer is to cause ordinary Australian families to pay more for their energy bills to achieve nothing?

Sorry but that's irresponsible in the extreme.

People can't afford higher energy bills and neither should they have to!!

You seem to struggle to answer with my question though - why do I pay infinitely less for energy in the United States than you do?

Because in California they have Nuclear, Solar as well as the traditional hydro & coal going into the grid.
Also I'd bet that prices are kept artifically low with government subsides.
Besides America has hocked its self almost to the point of 100% of GDP so whats a bit more debt swept under the carpet for the next gen to find.
This is 1 thing I agreed with Katter about Australia has dropped all subsides & tariffs to compete in a global free market, pity we forgot to tell the rest of the world to get their markets in order as well.

EXACTLY!

Here we have nuclear power plants providing zero emissions based energy.

Now why don't we in Australia?
Why do the clowns there come out with some sort of Mad Max based scenario whenever the sensible option of nuclear power is raised?

So what is Australia's answer?
To cause families to spend over $500 per quarter on energy, solve nothing and allow China to continue to wipe ou the good anyone else does?

Sorry but you can probably see why I am better off by far in the Golden State than when I was in Melbourne from an energy point of view.

PS - I don't think the Terminator is subsidising energy that much?

As I said yesterday Andrei, he doesn't have the money too
His already bankrupt Cheesy
I do agree with your sentiments on nuclear power, we have vast empty spaces to build them  shutting any nimby's up.
The waste is an issue but not a insurmountable one.
But with luck Labor will be able to go ahead with their clean energy solutions now which in turn should help that industry grow & develop allowing more access to it in turn reducing prices for the masses.

Your opinion, which you are entitled too. I don't know, nor do I pretend to know why.
Not in the mood for your poo right now. Sorry, a little upset. My cousin in Christchurch seems to be missing. So I am not replying to anymore stuff okay. I can't seem to keep control of my feelings right now. sorry.
