Sorry mods (and others),  but have just heard on the news that the South Coast and the Illawarra have been badly affected by storms, and I know vegie lives somewhere down there,  so wanted to know if she and hers are OK.

When she replies - can the thread be deleted ? as I know it is not the proper forum for a topic like this,  but it's the only one I tend to post on and I know veg does too.

If it is worse than here in Sydney, it must be pretty wild.

Veg, let us know you're OK.

I have just come from central victoria where we were on holiday and left just as the storms crossed trhe border from SA. Talk about good timing but the roads were a nightmare. My car was blown across to the other side of the road at one stage and into the path of a truck. obviously it miussed but it was probably the worst weather Ive ever driven in.  I thought vegy was more north than these storms tho.

I have friends (an ex and her partner) in Myrtleford, and she says that the centre of town is under water and evacs are taking place.

They are OK as they are in a higher area, but she said things are not good.

They moved a while back, and she said their old place is under about 2 feet of water:-(

Lucky for them they moved.

Wow- Thanking you nichy and all. ( and here is mio worrying about buzz  & bwood with the floods in northern victoria......

Talk about windy.. Its was windy Half the neighbours fence and garden is in my yard and my is in the neighbours around the corner  (I think)...lost some Colourbond roofing and shed , torn sail clothes and ...the worst of all was the reaction of one of my boys when out in the wind tying things down and a huntsman spider was blown onto his neck...the shrill sent shivers down my back ..tho..we laugh about it now.

I actually come online quickly yesterday ,in between holding down the fort, ..and inbtween wind gusts  & I saw my ID name in the headlines JUST as I was to click on it boom- out went the power.

I live around many single elders which of whom I will be helping clean up their yards over the next few days...

I havent had time to read any posts but I hope buzz , bwood and those in the floods down south are also OK.
I am keeping an ear open listening on the radio ...everyone...takecare and thank you again  guys. You have shown more thought in your thoughts than sadly my own family....

Good to hear you are OK veg.  Glad it was only a huntsman spider and not a funnelweb that got your son.

It was just that I heard on our local news that your area had copped a severe battering.

I don't know where burwood lives,  but I think buzz should be OK as he isn't near a river that I know of.  The floods down there are awful.

Our son had a run in with a red bellied black snake yesterday so they are now out and about too -  Ahh the joys of Oz.  (Still wouldn't want to live anywhere else though).   Smiley

I just heard on the news that Bairnsdale might get flooded soon, parents have been asked to pick their kids up from school, in certain areas only.

Poor people down there, first the fires, then the floods, what next, a locust plague. They must be an evil lot (only joking).

get those floaties out of the shed buzz.

I'm looking out the window at the water rising VERY slowly. I'm no expert but Bairnsdale looks quite safe to me. Having said that I'm not going back to work lol

I'd rather be on the pub side of the river
