The Malaysian article refers to the Jerusalem Post as its source. Yet there is no reference to this event in the JP.

This is a stupid hoax. There is no extra-judicial corporal punishment in Israel.

Personally I couldn't get married in a Church.
Not that it was bad or anything.
Its just that my dad taught me that Elvis was King
and not Jesus.
So with much apology, I withdrew our application to get married in a church.

LOL get married in Las Vegas...then 'Elvis' can perform the ceremony....

AussieFree2Ride.
You hit the nail on the head with Germaine Greer, not only is she a crackpot in her old age, but her view that 'all women' should be career orientated and 'Free' is absurd.
The amount of guys I know who have been raised by their Mothers alone is amazing. These women are twice the woman Germaine Greer is and was. The humble Housewife, who raises the kids with love and integrity ...and attention, without the need for Ritalin - should be made Australian of the year...after year...after year.

There is nothing wrong with being a Housewife, but it seems such a choice in life is considered 'inferior' by women like Greer. I worked in a Private Hospital and I had to clean the Birthing Suits when I filled in for the Night Porters on their Holidays. 80% of the women were 'career-orientated' and considered themselves very lucky and grateful, that they managed to finally have children for want of the delusion of career.
I think a 'liberated' woman is someone who has the luxury to commit 'full-time' to her children with a partner who can financially cover that desire. I feel sorry for women who 'have' to work, etc.
don't get me wrong, I'm a big fane of the 'Ripley' character in the Alien films - possibly the strongest female character of all time. But the character of Ripley was just your average 'female' just doing her job, not her career.
I think so many 'full-time' and single-parent Mothers are so under-valued and un-recognised in this country. But I'm sure John Howard was happy that they were forced to build up his surplus and lower his unemployment rate.
John Howard was such a turd of a man when it came to the priority of the Mother.

A singer who performed in front of a “mixed audience” of men and women was lashed 39 times to make him “repent,” after a ruling by a self-described rabbinic court on Wednesday.

Jasignature, I believe the egotism of Greer and her like has put too many women out of touch with reality.  The need to dominate is an insecurity that only results in unhappy, lonely lives. We can`t blame John Howard for the fact that women work, it`s a result of the ego driven greed of people like Greer.

Maybe I am being a tad harsh on John 'Superman' Howard.
Many Mothers had a choice not to work, but I guess they placed the value of Consumerism ...having to pay for Foxtel, a bigger house, Plasma TV, etc as a form of 'love' for their children instead of just 'being there'.

Consumerism is much, much bigger than John Howard.  Methinks you give the man too much credit.
