Gillards de-facto gets his job back
Aug 26th, 2010 at 10:27am

Boss would welcome Mathieson back

AAP

Prime Minister Julia Gillard's partner Tim Mathieson would "absolutely" be welcomed back to his job as a property salesman after the election despite speculation the job is inappropriate for Australia's potential first bloke.

Labor sources have told The Age newspaper that there is growing consensus it would be untenable for Mr Mathieson to work for developer Albert Dadon, a Labor Party donor and prominent Israel lobbyist, if Labor wins on Saturday.

But Mr Dadon stresses that he makes donations and raises funds for both major parties - "and the amount is pathetic".

"I feel really that this whole thing is simply because I'm a Jew and that's what I resent," he told ABC Radio.

Mr Dadon said Mr Mathieson had taken leave of absence from the role at his own request following intense media pressures.

"The bloke is entitled to have a job," he said.

"After the election he's absolutely welcome to resume his job."

Mr Dadon said Mr Mathieson was employed at the Ubertas Group because of his knack with people.

"It takes him absolutely no time to establish a relationship and people warm up to him," he said.

Mr Dadon said he had never sought any political favours for developments in exchange for donations, but whether conflicts of interests existed for Mr Mathieson was not a matter for him.

"That is not up to me, the conflict of interest," he said.

"I do what I do whether Tim is with me or whether he's not with me."

A French-born Moroccan Jew, Mr Dadon is an accomplished jazz guitarist and composer.

He is married to Debbie Besen, daughter of Marc Besen, billionaire chairman of Highpoint Property Group and founder of the Sussan clothing chain.

Did we hear Rudds wife crying victim-mouth for having to abandon her once thriving business?

So...ok to make demands of candidates spouses work/business dealings, so long as they aren't Jewish?

No Julia, don't try and turn this around, this isn't about pro-Israeli Jews  funding either party, rather is what your 'said' de-facto gains from the decisions you make in parliament should he remain on their employment books by the off-chance, you are elected PM by the Australian people.

Wasn't Rudds wife expected to stand down from her own business also when Kev was elected?...Step-down from a business she had built from scratch under Howards work-choices?

So stop making this a "discrimination" issue, faith, race has nothing to do with it, it's a conflict of national interest, pity he wasn't required to stand down from his appointment sooner, the way Rudds wife was told to by Shorten and co.

You were not up-front with the Australian people, and this leaked its way into the media.

Your defence?

Cry- discrimination!

I guess being a Union lawyer paid off when weaving your way through loop-holes.

You should have been up-front with Australians, cant have your cake and eat it too Gilad.

Cool

This is a reach Millie.

Rudds wife SOLD her business because it held many government contracts, and the Rudds did so of their own accord to avoid public scruitny.

I dont care if he has the job.  It is obvious why he got it, but as the old saying goes, its not what you know......

Under the advice of Bill Shorten and co....

And don't you think this yields both government and public interest, particularly when this group are funding Gillards election campaign?

Cool...This and when it has the potential to exploit government owned land in favour of this property developer who sells property to foreign investors?

I would call this a conflict of national interest, wouldn't you?

Ubertas Group to Sell Last Apartments at 505 St Kilda Road
Written by Marc Pallisco
Monday, 29 March 2010

A UNIQUE luxury apartment with a “left-wing” connection has hit the market, as the developer of a new complex clears the last of the unsold apartments.

The double-storey “townhouse-style” apartment is on the ground floor of Ubertas Group’s 505 St Kilda Road complex, a project built on the site of what was St Kilda Road’s first high-rise office.

The 505 complex is absolute park-front, having a security door connecting residents to the massive Fawkner Park. The apartment itself (G02) includes two bedrooms, a study, two car parks, downstairs courtyard and upstairs balcony – both with a park vista.
Icon Property’s Robert Mitchelson is marketing the apartment for private sale at $1.8 million.

Ubertas is headed by Albert Dadon, a long-time and close personal friend of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and wife Therese Rein, and with whom he spent last New Year’s Eve.

Last year Ubertas appointed Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s partner, Tim Mathieson, to a role marketing apartments, despite “Mr Gillard’s” previous sales experience, selling hair products.

Ubertas owns a double storey office building on a prominent site opposite the Flagstaff Gardens and Victoria Market, and is currently seeking approval by Planning Minister Justin Madden to build one of two high-rises, the tallest rising some 50-levels (the smallest rising 35-levels).

Now Verge, say if you were an existing local, owned a property with "park' views behind where these high-rise apartments are awaiting approval to be built, would this development mob having government connections not stand to compromise your chances of successfully lobbying local council in opposition to this development?

Think about it.

How do the Greens feel about the demolition of surrounding parkland's in-order to make way for politicians and their campaign funders high-rises?

And will our Greens be delving into this?

Smiley  I hope so.

The PM, Her Manbag, His Employer & Their (Virtually Unremarked) Connection

Suspend for a moment your disbelief and try to imagine the following scenario: Prime Minister Julia Gillard's partner, Tim Mathieson, is employed by an Australian property developer of Arab background whose position on the Middle East conflict is unashamedly, even crusadingly, pro-Palestine. In addition, our property developer of Middle Eastern appearance has formed an Australia-Arab Cultural Exchange and staged a series of forums bringing together Australian politicians and representatives of countries and groups in the Middle East committed to achieving justice for the Palestinian people. Imagine further that Gillard, as deputy prime minister, has both led a political and media delegation to a forum meeting in an Arab/Muslim capital and, in return, received an Arab/Muslim political and media delegation at a similar forum here in Australia.

Impossible to get your head around, I know, so let's just focus on one element only of the above scenario - the pro-Palestinian property developer of Arab/Muslim background employing La Guillotine's partner.

So, despite Manbag's job of flogging luxury apartments to international investors following the Rudd government's controversial relaxation of laws relating to foreign real estate ownership.....you still don't see the potential for conflict of national interest?

Even though the Rudds themselves spent last New Years eve with this developer?

(See Developer employs Julia Gillard's partner to sell apartments, Marc Pallisco, realestatesource.com, 1/3/10))

On second thoughts, don't bother, you deserve to remain ignorant.

Yes?

Or else like Labors leaders, he would probably own several apartment blocks by now, (Rudds) ...or be well on the way to doing so like the Gillards.i

The thing is Smithy, it's a conflict of national interest, and our media didn't want to touch it when they had the chance.

And people wonder why Australian politics is so corrupt and shoddy?

Because we allow it to be just that when turning a blind eye.
