Questions so far;

Gay marriage.
How will you make reductions to the budget.
Why didnt you attend the budget costings release today.
Abortion, will you ban it (which was a BIG no by the way before vegi comes in)
Boats.
Agriculture unfair apportionment of drought assistance under labor.
Indiginous affairs.

And this is the first 20 minutes.

I still think this is better than a debate could ever be.  Makes the pollies accountable to a person asking the question, not a prescripted journalist.

Why was Bob Brown denied access to a debate.
What will you do for apprentices struggling for work.
What will you do for HECS debts (put the idea out that those that volunteer will get a credit on their HECS debt.)
Peak oil.
Workchoices (the lesson is learnt, it is just gone, totally gone).
Cost of living and pensioners.

Darn, I'm out until around 8pm - will have to rely on selective media soundbytes and posts on here... until the replay on ABC24...

What will the coalition offer to high income earning, no kids people? (Interesting answer, his response was he will try to put no additional burden on them, but will be offerring them nothing or incentives.  I think this was a trap question that he answered it well.)

Since you opposed the stimulation package would you oppose another one and would you bring in workchoices to avoid one. (workchoices, no, answered already, its gone.  Two packages, first of $10bi was fully supported by coalition. In Feb 09 gov wanted a $42b package which was batts, school halls etc. Said second was too much too soon and the rushed package was botched.)

Do you worry about your public image.

Will you rule out increasing the GST? Ans - Yes I will. (That was it).
Some question about the AMNE (or something like that, wife was talking.) I think it was Servicemans pensions.

What is the incentive for self funded retirees to vote for the coalition. (Will index seniors health care card.)

Mental health - Is the money for mental health coming from other health areas, and can we trust you on economic decisions. (This one is fiesty, re-directing health spending from breaucracy to mental health.  Current Australian of the year formuled the Coalitions plan for mental health.

Broadband (said $43b on one technology is short sighted, and fibre isnt that great since it does nothing for when you arent in the home.  Coalitions plan is along the same as New Zealand, and he doesnt want a government monopoly.  Made reference to ALPs filter and how much will it slow it down.  Said they will be doing some fibre).

Decline in international student numbers due to government restrictions on student visas.  (Made reference to unis selling an immigration product and not a student package, and he supported the ALPs current position).

Gee, like we didnt know that was coming from you.

This is better than a debate any day.  Make them answer the questions important to us, NOT what pollies think we should care about.

Medical research. (Pledged an additional $150m above the current abouts)

Making provision for retirement, and the ALP cutting the super contributions cut from $100k to $50k.

Training of doctors.

Something like 27 questions.

Crowd was okay, a few claps, no boos or crowd chatter.

Big clap at the end.  Abbott shook a lot of hands on the way in.

What did Abbott actually say about Super and training of Drs?

Tragi-comedy about Lib “costings” of their policies—now Tone has added more spending?

Libs release costings about 3hours late:
Quote:
$3b surplus 12/13 and $6b in 13/14.

Yeah right, $30Bn unfunded spending promises, savings that are a joke, 2 days to pull this crap apart before Sat morning. they arrived at the figures to gazump Labor, pure and simple. this is going to be fun!

Yup:
$9.7b savings underpins it all.
He’s claiming savings from not proceeding with the thing the mining tax would fund.
BUT they are not recognising the revenue.

PB:
Quote:
Ha told you it was Horwarths doing the costings. The mob that stuffed up the LNP costings in Qld.
