It consists of 76 senators, twelve from each of the six states and two from each of the mainland territories. It shares the power to make laws with the other House of the Parliament, the House of Representatives. .. http://www.aph.gov.au/senate/senators/homepages/index.asp?sort=party I started a thread on the 9th August on reforming the Senate. http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1278650233As the senate was set up as a house to look after States rights. there should be no one from any policitical party sitting in the Senate, it should be only independents that are elect to the Senate and they should not be able to be Minister of the Crown. That would require constitutional change. good luck on that. and the sheer logistics of your proposal is immense and probably impossible. and even then, im not sure what advantages there are.
