Unemployment 5% and steady
Aug 9th, 2010 at 3:12pm

Just another reason not to risk a Liberal government.
That should be 5.1% and steady.

Quote:
COMPANIES remain upbeat about the local economy, with job advertisements rising 1.3 per cent in July, a survey says.
The ANZ job advertisement series showed the total number of job ads placed in major metropolitan newspapers and on the internet rose 1.3 per cent in July to an average of 171,685 a week, the report showed.

This follows a 2.8 per cent rise in June.

The total number of ads was 35.1 per cent higher than July 2009, seasonally adjusted - the fastest annual growth rate since November 2007.

ANZ chief economist Warren Hogan said the result highlighted the resilience of the Australian economy in an uncertain global economic backdrop.

"Australian employers still appear upbeat about Australia's economic prospects despite heightened external risks," Mr Hogan said.

.
The ANZ series showed internet job ads rose 1.3 per cent in July, while newspaper ads were up 1.2 per cent.

Internet job advertisements were 36.1 per cent higher than a year ago, while newspaper jobs ads were up 14.5 per cent.

"While July has seen some moderation in the growth of total job advertisements, it is encouraging to see that, in contrast to the last three months, both newspaper and internet job advertisements increased in July," Mr Hogan said.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is scheduled to release labour force data for July on Thursday.

Mr Hogan forecasts the ABS report to show 20,000 jobs added in July, the unemployment rate steady at 5.1 per cent and a participation rate sitting at 65.2 per cent.

You know we not long ago had an article in our local paper. Talking how good the School program did for our local business and tradesman.  Then later How new  health  policies like the cancer clinic and now the super clinic have had in our neglected are. Plus retail businesses   from the  stimulus has boosted our area In so many ways. An area that has had one of the highest unemployment and other negative statistics...

WELL DONE LABOR ( and all this  in a Liberal safe seat.)

The Labor government has NOT had the recognition - that  it deserves. We have always been left behind.

Again Thankyou !!

Well Labor are achieving it already, but we dont know what the Liberals economic policies are. how could you say things will not get worse when Abbott has produced no policies on how he'll fund his government?
A taskforce is very sweet but how will they fund policy?

What are Abbotts economic polices?

http://www.liberal.org.au/Issues/Economy.aspx

Cute links, the first one talks about the values of being a Liberal, but no plan or costings on economics.
The second contained graphs that date back to 2001,but no plan on costings of economics.
The third one was the best, I'cut and pasted it to show the others here,as you can see it talks about Liberal economic policy, it says the words even, but no plan or facts on what costs will be cut where or what they will do to finance their government.

Quote:
Restore the budget surplus within three years and start paying Labor’s debt
The Hon Joe Hockey Liberal Member for North Sydney 06/07/10
This will put downward pressure on interest rates and protect our standard of living. It will help to ensure that current and future generations of Australians will not be burdened by unnecessary debt and unnecessarily high debt interest

I must need to ask the question in a more simple manner, what new taxes or  cuts to current policy will the Libs make to finance their budget? is that clear enough?

ARE YOU REALLY THAT STUPID SKIPPY?

Where are the savings? what are they cutting? you cant answer it because they dont even know until they have a taskforce if elected to work out what to do.
Its all well and good to talk the talk but where's the money coming from? drop the abuse and answer the question, if its that simple why do you and every other Liberal supporter refuse to provide the facts, go post em up sunshine, the facts on what Abbott will cut or what taxes will increase to fund his policies, thanks, I wont hold my breath though.
