Your efforts to equate the two are noted and your juxtaposition is rejected.

The visa over stayers arrive here with valid papers, as they have to- and are eventually caught and sent back...unlike the customers of the people smugglers supported by the labor govt. All who take up valid places on the asylum program from people who have been waiting in camps.

You would prefer to reward the illegal aspirants rather than those that are less fortunate.

Are the people in camps too 'brown skinned looking' for you, racist?

Australia have signed the refugee convention and offered the hand of freedom to refugees.....it is not their fault they have accepted this hand of freedom Australia has offered.....if Abbott and the Liberal party do not want to help refugees as agreed upon in the convention then they should remove our name from it or honor it.....to treat genuine refugees like criminals for domestic political gain is disgusting and shows a lack of leadership by both major parties.....Refugees are desperate and take great risks to try and forge a better life.....unfortunately for them Australia does not honor it's word when it comes to our politicians......we all know the boat people are a drop in the ocean....yet every election we show how racist we are....we created this problem and the innocent must suffer to protect the self interest of a few politicians.......disgusting behavior from Australia.....Australians have nothing to be proud of!!!

I agree, I wonder if the Libs feel just a little bit hypocritical that the convention was signed by the founder of the Liberal party, Sir Robert Menzies. Naa, Libs no longer feel compasion for anything other than wealth and greed,just look at the tards making comment here.

Yes, but to paraphrase a truly great leader : "We, as a nation, must become the change we want to see in our politicians"...

The nation must recognise its heightened moral responsibility with regards to its treatment of the desperate and destitute, by ensuring we do not inflict on them, or risk their further suffering as a result of, 19th century solutions to inconvenient problems.

Ok so lets assume the hand of freedom has been extended to all and sundry in distress.

At what number do you say hang on we have a problem.

What do we do if for example 1000 boats (unlikely but possible) set sail for CI this week, with 50 000 assylum seekers, then a few weeks later we get 10 000 boats with 500 000 assylum seekers???

Where do you draw the line?? according to you unemployed labor lot yes its 9.30am Monday mornng and shouldn't you be at work you have no qualms with how ever many people turn up here???

Whats with that??

Where do all these assylum seekers some 13000 odd single males that arrive each year who bring with them family with the family reunification programme live once refugee status is granted??

Supply and demand, yep they get housing which is in critical shortages rents $400+ a week the norm, mean while aussie famillies like you who may in the future be evicted for inabillity to pay rent find themselves living in cars bus shelters under bridges etc.

It is an absolute disgrace that aussies live in cars whilst the assylum seekers get housing. Something is seriously wrong with this situation.

And I've yet to see or hear any refugee supporter open their homes or wallets to accommodate those who they so desperately defend???
