@Soren: Sums up the current state of the West at the moment, especially the UK. Must be tough trying to stay afloat economically when you are nothing more than a 'Service Provider' nation these days.
As for Nick Cave: One doesn't need to be 'in with the clicky' to see the obvious, let alone hear him say it in an interview: "Germany brought the real me out." Must dent a lot of 'local egos' there.
Its a laugh when people try to attach themselves via a fleeting moment in Australia as if they were a personal friend. They must be 'great friends' if these 'stars' head off overseas at the first chance they can get (to get out!).

"Oh but I knew Nick when he was born in a Garage under a strobe light"
Aren't we charming, jasignature.
NOTHING Cave did after 1982 equalled what he did before 1982.
The only thing happened in Berlin for him was he found his junkie religion (all heroin addicts seem to find themselves in the bible - either that or die).
Yes, Germany bought the real him out - the pretentious middle aged crooner. We all go through youth into middle age, it doesn't mean that it brought out his best music. Just different.
Mercy Seat and the Ship Song are great songs. As for the duet with Kylie? And the rest of the stuff? I know what holds my attention.
lol, it is funny to think that any of us would pretend be totally immune to the cult of celebrity, and the fact that we derive some pleasure from sharing anecdotes about any associations we may have had , seems pretty harmless to me, and can even be interesting and enlightening for some of the people who have such stories shared with them.
I have lots of Nick Cave anecdotes as well, which is hardly surprising for someone of the same age, from the same town, and who moved in the same circles.
Fortunately for me, my wife was not enamoured with Mr Cave on a musical, or personal, level, so my anecdotes while similarly tawdry, in other ways, carry far less "personal" intrigue.
