Leonard Cohen - Dance Me to the End of Love

Very clever clip .. would love that to be played at my wedding.

Shame .. he looks exactly like my ex husband in that clip ... sighs.

Is it possible that this madeleine peyroux version is... gulp... better than the ... original?

...and the classic German Band
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trbvx1U6Ry8
"The Garden"
Einstuersende Neubauten (the pioneers of Industrial Rock)

and the controversial "ZNS"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUHCl4TUdTA&feature=related

I don't mind German Music Scene, in fact I think it is the 'Cradle' for true Musos. For example, Germany made Nick Cave who he became famous for before he destroyed it all over in the USA with Gospel.
Germany shows more 'Metal' than anything the UK has, and is the originator for a lot of 'heavy' movements that take off.

Maybe you prefer something more mainstream Germanic like
RAMMSTEIN !!!!!!!!!!

Lets face it, if you wanna be a hard rock band - you gotta conquer Germany before you conquer the world or you are just a pretender!

Really? You mean before Cromagnon, Throbbing Gristle and our own SPK?

You're right Ernie.

SPK ...gotta listen in more on this. Typical Melbournian Music Scene though, you really gotta dig around and search every little nook and cranny alleyway.
And the Cruel Sea, eh? amazing.

Maybe I should state then that Einstuerende Neubauten were the Industrial Rockists that touched the 'mainstream' on behalf of, then?

Guy Clark: Randall Knife

My father had a Randall knife
My mother gave it to him
When he went off to WWII
To save us all from ruin
If you've ever held a Randall knife
Then you know my father well
If a better blade was ever made
It was probably forged in hell

My father was a good man
A lawyer by his trade
And only once did I ever see
Him misuse the blade
It almost cut his thumb off
When he took it for a tool
The knife was made for darker things
And you could not bend the rules

He let me take it camping once
On a Boy Scout jamboree
And I broke a half an inch off
Trying to stick it in a tree
I hid it from him for a while
But the knife and he were one
He put it in his bottom drawer
Without a hard word one

There it slept and there it stayed
For twenty some odd years
Sort of like Excalibur
Except waiting for a tear

My father died when I was forty
And I couldn't find a way to cry
Not because I didn't love him
Not because he didn't try
I'd cried for every lesser thing
Whiskey, pain and beauty
But he deserved a better tear
And I was not quite ready

So we took his ashed out to sea
And poured `em off the stern
And threw the roses in the wake
Of everything we'd learned
When we got back to the house
They asked me what I wanted
Not the lawbooks not the watch
I need the things he's haunted

My hand burned for the Randall knife
There in the bottom drawer
And I found a tear for my father's life
And all that it stood for

This is David Virgin, from SPK and Sekret Sekret, and other bands.

A Sydney musical legend.

I never enjoyed The Cruel Sea, esp after Perkins joined.

Great peice Buzz (Randall Knife). In my case, its my Father's Elvis Presley Collection ...my siblings can have everything else.

Ernie: Good stuff aye. Thanks for some good insight.
Will be listening to more. Wink

Here's a little something from one of my favourite all-time movies (and the first movie/time to have me bawl my eyes out in front of my father)
