It's surprising how infrequently this very concept is examined seriously.
Then there's the other obvious question, which goes to the effect of: at the time/s that each of the great religious texts were written, what were the prevailing levels of education, supersition, political freedom, inequality, scientific knowledge/ignorance and overall socio-economic development!?
I, for one, think it is ludicrous to give much credence to the notions expressed in any text, that claims to be the ultimate (and only) authority, on the origins of not just humanity and all living things on our planet - but of the entire universe...
Especially, any ancient text that was written at a time when the vast majority of people were highly superstitious of the dynamic forces of nature and absolutely certain that the earth was flat...
