My brother looked at the Honda a few years ago, in '06, but he bought the Subaru Forester instead, and is still driving it, and he used to change cars every year or two, he has liked it a lot, but will be upgrading again soon.
Hondas are always a good car, and I think that the new model Hondas are better than the current Subaru, but the models you are talking about I think the Subaru was the better option.

And approximately 6 months back I acquired a brand new company car (BMW 320i) .. guess which car I prefer driving?

The Subaru Forester is far more practical.. and my experience in driving this vehicle is tantamount to getting into my fav pair of jeans.

The BMW is a luxury car .. and a status symbol which works well in some situations.

Perhaps I just need more time to get used to the BMW. I know I get abused by my family (and clan) for not driving it more than I do ... and for not parking it in their driveways so the neighbours can see that a luxury shiny black car's there .. sighs)

Back on topic, it is another vote of confidence in the Forester from Lisa, as I said, my bro changes cars more often than I change my undies usually, but he has had the Forester longer than any car before.

So that alone tells me they must have something going for them, as his previous cars were a Carrera and an M5, one for work, and one for taking his dogs in, but now he just has the one car and has always been happy with it. I have heard some negative feedback about either the late 08, or the 09 model Foresters, but that may have been individual bad luck stories, but prior to that all reports were positive.

Re the Subaru Forester ..

1) My next door neighbour's recently had a baby and so she and her hubby bought a brand new one and they too are VERY happy with it.

2) My sister bought a brand new Forester in May 2007 (she paid 38K for it ) .. and she sold it in May 2010 for 28K. That's actually pretty good in terms of resale value.

3) My sister purchased a new vehicle last week .. guess what it was?? Yes .. another new all wheel drive SUV .. the new Subaru Forester lol. This time round .. my sister test drove a few other similar competing makes and models .. just to be sure but the Forester came up trumps in terms of dollar value and quality driving pleasure (the car literally hovers effortlessly above the road IMO and takes very steep hills without any trouble<-- we live in an area where steep hills are everywhere so it was impt for both my sister and I that the car could handle this type of terrain).

4) I've still got my Forester and as far as my sister and I are concerned .. the Subaru Forester's versatile design caters for all sorts of lifestyles. This model is made to last .. it's durable, well made and I personally believe well sized (which means it's not a headache to park). Gawd .. I am sounding like a Subaru marketing manager lol but the truth is I love getting into my Forester every morning .. and as I stated above .. it's like getting into my fav pair of jeans
