Matt Preston named 'Wanker of the Year'

I have always thought that food criticism is the domain of wankers, but this guy pushes the wankery to the extreme.

What did he do? I can't access video at work and I don't watch the show.

Even better was the way he got down on all fours during the show and wiped up some mess with the paper towels he spruiks on those ads.

You have to be extremely suspicious with the editing in these "reality" TV shows. Much is done through cutaways. I wouldn't be suprised if this little piece of drama was filmed after everyone had left the building. All we have is a plate landing on the floor, a cut to the contestant, and Matt Preston standing there yelling "disgusting!"

"Disgustingly good." Ha ha.

That's why I like Masterchef. It's the suspense. But never forget: suspense is created in the editing, not the filming.

I have heard him interviewed on the radio a few times, and outside the entertainment persona he puts on for the show, he actually comes across as a really nice family man, and I know that my daughter loves him, and thinks he is both kind and funny.

I think that what is like by the kids, is that he shows them that individualism is OK, that flamboyancy is OK, that working hard to achieve your dreams is a noble ideal, and he delivers these lessons with good spirit, humour, and an entertaining flourish of melodrama.

So with all that in mind, I think him to be very far from being a wanker, even though I can understand why it may look so from just a superficial appraisal of what some see of him, without the benefit of having heard him speak on a more serious note.

So that's what I'm missing on TV these days. Can't say I'm devastated to be missing it.

The biggest wankerism was that guy who had tears welling in his eyes barring the opinion of a cravat wearing joikoff.

Dude!  You've been cooking for years and years and years, and you still don't know when you're dish is good??

It matters very little who wins the next election, Australia and most Western Countries are not Democracies anyway, more likely Plutocracies;governing only for the top 20% of the people.
If one considers the now defunct Democrats; how many of them are now sitting on fat parliamentary pensions, and some of them are under the age of fourty, and the more Greens we vote in, there will be more of them pocketing fat parliamentary pensions if they were elected before their pension system was changed, and the recently elected members may be getting a pay rise of some $50,000 per annum, which is more than many workers earn, and about more than three times what an age-pensioner gets.
When countries like Greece go almost broke, the best way to pull the country out of trouble would be, cut everyones income down and then the people would accept it more readily, not like in Australia, where this government brags about avoiding the financial global crisis, but only at the expense of some section of the community, while a small section is getting fabouosly rich.
Advance Australia fair, long live Plutocracy.

Apparently they cook the food, then go away for a lunch break, then come back in a few hours and do the big taste test.
