New Value for Pi
Oct 4th, 2009 at 12:27pm

It turns out that Mathematicians have been wrong for centuries about the value of Pi. In a new publication by a Swedish mathematician, the value of Pi has been proven conclusively to be 3.125.

Here is the link to that important piece of work. Note that he has put his money where his mouth is. If you find a single error in his book, you can win 300,000 Swedish Crowns.

http://www.correctpi.com/

I challenge anybody to find a flaw with this treatise.

Of course, big business have a vested interest in hushing up this important piece of work.

A group of researcher have recent proved that the structural defects in the Twin Towers were due to the incorrect value of Pi being used in its design.

It also highlights a major deficiency in the climate modelling currently being used by the IPCC and clearly shows that man could not have landed on the moon. By using the incorrect value of Pi, they would have actually landed 2.3 million miles, or almost 5% short of the mark.

That's pretty amazing after all these years.
And a possible explanation for the twin towers collapse also? That's huge.
It might explain why the population has slowly been getter fatter too  Tongue

Do I detect a note of skepticism?????  Angry

I'll have you know that this new theory is endorsed by such authorities as (esteemed science advisor to Walter Cronkite) Richard Hoagland:

Nooooo...not skeptical at allllll - or sarcaaaaastic either.
3.125 is far simpler than trying to remember that endless string of numbers.

And it's now obvious that the population has been getting fatter because for all these years we've had too much Pi.  Grin

Yeah I had about that many memorised at one stage, because you never know when you might need them  Huh
I checked it out, and you got it spot on.
Here's a few more if you want to extend yourself.

What is it with memorising Pi? I did that too when I was younger.  Some chicks dig that kind of stuff  Grin

Check this one out. Daniel Tammet the Aspergers syndrome savant who recited pi to... wait for it... 22500 decimal places from memory.  Shocked

Unconfirmed reports now state that numerous advocates are streaming to support the new value of Pi. These include Richard Lindzen, and Christopher (screaming lord) Monkton, who has agreed to do a peer review, since he's a fully qualified peer.

...

Dick Lindzen is an asexual scientist with perfectly legal financial ties to legitimate tobacco and oil companies. He has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. Proceeds from donations to the Lindzen Foundation all go toward finding the real cause of his condition.

That was fascinating and amazing. It's incredible how much the brain is capable of calculating and absorbing.

Tammet is a bit of a freak of nature. I saw a documentary on him where he learned to speak conversational Icelandic (one of the most difficult European languages for foreigners to grasp) in a week (yep, seven days) from the get go having no knowledge of even one Icelandic word.

Icelandic is Germanic. It's not too difficult to learn if you already speak Swedish Norwegian or Danish. Even English is a help.

I think the most difficult European languages are Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian and Basque, but not necessarily in that order Smiley

"Archimedes was a liar"

Pi is 3.125

Is the Pi thing fair dinkum, or just some piss take?
Sorry if I am too dense to know, but if it is fair dinkum, I am surprised I had not heard about it before now, so my naturally skeptical (and cynical) nature, leads me to assume it must be a joke, but if it is not, it is pretty bizzarre that nobody discovered it before, and noticed how well the original Pi seemed to work, for so long.
