lol, auzgurl, that is easy, and Bryan Ferry said it so well with Roxy Music
"Love is the drug, and I need to score"

Legalise them all.

I don't know what the best drug is, but I do know the worst is alcohol, probably closely followed by tobacco, then we would see the amphetamine type drugs after that.

All the others have pretty mild physical negatives compared to that lot.

alcohol causes the most damage to our society. It is also the most used.

Reduce the damage, legalise them all.

Alcohol can also lead to the use of other drugs. I always find that after consuming too much alcohol,  the next day I get a craving for paracetamol  Tongue

Unfortunately, I don't think that legalising all drugs is a good idea. There are some (most especially those that a lot of young people use taday) which could cause big problems in later life.
I agree that alcohol does the most damage to society, largely because it's the most widely used and abused.
Abuse of anything will cause problems, but a couple of glasses of red a few times a week won't do most people any harm, and may even be beneficial.

Quote:
No drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society.
If we're looking for the sources of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs,
we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed, and love of power.

mozzoak, I think love is the most powerful drug there is, you are defintely onto something there.Love has made sane pple do crazy things

Sprint alcohol is the biggest problem out there ..but as to the damage it has the potential to cause, I think this comes down to education of teens as our next generation of drinkers.

A glass of red is very good for you but 4 bottles of red is overstating that a bit so, it really comes down to knowing what is healthy and whats not.

I intend to teach mine to drink responsibly so they know theyre limits and hopefully they can apply that as they grow into adults.

Its the alcohol/car/ramped up drunks scenario that most scares me.

Yes and there are drugs out there which can superficially mimic that feeling.
There's so many drugs out there nowadays that it must be an absolute nightmare for parents of kids coming into that experimentation stage.

When I was a kid, a group of us somehow got the idea that the inside strips of banana skins could be dried out and smoked to give a buzz. That was an hilarious situation when we all suddenly started eating lots of bananas. The parents were happy that we were at last eating some fruit, but also quite suspicious.
I thought it was a bit of bs, but I still waited to see what it did to my friends before trying it myself. I didn't see any effects, or feel any when I tried it. As it turns out, there might've been quite a bit of truth in that rumour.

Kids these days have a lot more information on hand to get an idea of what works, what doesn't, the dosage required..etc.
What they need to be mindful of is the adverse effects that may be caused by a simple experiment, even though their motives may be true.
But there won't be any stoppage of risk taking. They'll do it regardless....hopefully.i

Theres a drug that can mimic being in love..?   Shocked  hey I missed out on that one and yet I am a relative novice in these things you understand.

Its mostly pot luck I think, its not possible to monitor and safeguard kids from every bad thing out there, and to an extent its just a matter of keeping your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

No matter how much well meaning parental advice we give, if kids use reckless abandon in risky situations (as they often do) keeping fingers crossed is all we have.

Never heard of the banana skin thing..its sounds quirky. Cool

A couple of other weird ones that I've heard of are:

Nutmeg - take a couple of spoonfuls and about 6 hours later, you'll be off your nut Meg.

Wasps and hornets - I think they dry and crush them, then eat them.
May cause bad internal swelling though  Grin

I doubt if you're going to stop kids from experimenting in anything if they are that way inclined, but if they really have to, they should be encouraged to do their own research before trying it out.

And I think that parents should do some research on what their kids may be up to now, and not just think back to what they did at that age.

Ive heard of shooting up Vegemite but I think thats taking the whole transcendental experience a bit too seriously. Rehab for vegemite addicts? Pure hell.

I tried a little experiment of my own once..I was drinking chamomile tea and I felt a bit lightheaded I thought I was onto something for sure..
My friend thought I was a bit sunstroke when I recommneded it to her and nothing happened.  derr

After dropping acid, shooting up speed and ectasy eating magic mushies and smoking pot for 2 years, then being hopelessly addicted to heroin for 3 years while indulging in cocaine, ice, pot, prescription pills and more ecstacy,
I have to say being totaly drug free (6 years) walking into my own house and being a father and a husband is the best drug I have ever known.
So yes "love is the drug for me"!

Vegemite???? WTF
