Grocery watch was populist propaganda, and the government deserves to be called on that fact.

They could claim to have been trying to encourage suppliers to be more restrained in their price rises by starting such a scheme, but could never have honestly expected it could actually be anything more than a psychological tool.

I also shudder to think that Coral Sea thinks a real man comes from a place where women know their place, and the furry critters are nervous.

If you look at the US and see how one side of politics votes for ex movie stars, austrian bodybuilders, and extremist evangelicals, to govern them, I guess that shows where they get these strange ideas of what real men are.

Kick in some deliverance style banjo, and you start to get the picture.
Sooooeeeeey!

rofl, are you kidding me? I'm no fan of George W Bush (and neither is Coral Sea), but compared to a Kevin Rudd he is Clint Eastwood. Kevin Rudd is like one of those scrubs who got constantly washed by jocks in gym class.

Well, Kevin Rudd is certainly not a real man, wussy appearance or not.

Also: what's with the loser anti-Americanism on this forum? I don't understand why Australians are so resentful of Americans yet are so inclined to sympathize with near-hostile third worlders that share with us absolutely nothing in common. bugger anti-Americanism!

The anti-Americanism is not personally directed at Americans as individuals. Unfortunately there is just a lot of disillusionment generally after Bush's long reign of incompetence and warmongering. He has not done much for the USA image.

Give it time and people won't be so cynical. Hopefully there will never be another Bush in the Whitehouse - although I did hear rumours that Jethro was being groomed for President. God save America!

Where Rudd fails the most is in his character.

And the MSM, in the main, refuse to admit , the man they backed is not the hero/saint portrayed in the lead up to the 2007 election.

Lived in a car!   The most disgraceful denigration of a  respected farming family, known and have been in the district for over a hundred years.
That alone, should have been enough in the beginning to show what kind of person this is.  But, no!  we HAD to have a change.

The dissembling from Rudd is masterful.
False dawn service?
Who? Me? Never. 'No-one in my office organised anything' Lips Sealed
Ahem...Ask Lachlan Harris.

Goes so drunk to a strip club, can't remember anything.  The public, fed by what laughingly passes for some journalists, laughs it off.
(Imagine if John Howard had done anything remotely like that)

Reduces a RAAF member to tears over the wrong sandwich.

Throws a hissy fit in a war zone, because there's no hair dryer supplied.

The idiotic attempt to stalk strine.

On and on it goes.
But with a voting population, who base their political opinions on a morning tabloid style tv program, and the latest reality program, plus a 10 second grab on the  evening news, especially ch10, of course he's popular.

I love the sound of a bitching rightard such sweet music to the ears.
You can whine as much as you like about Kevvy but the punters love him,as after 12 long years of the rodents lies Kevvy is a major breath of fresh air.
Hows those kiddies overboard? or the never ever GST? or the illegal invasion of sovereign states?
Your whine means sweet fa compered to the murderous atrocities committed by the rodents government.

Budget surpluses are bad management sprint, they show a government more worried about looking like they are good managers rather than a government who spend money on infrastructure and services the population need.
As a matter of fact the Howard government have a lot to answer for in their near on twelve years no major spending on services or infrastructure occurred even tho they had the biggest mining boom in this countries history, a total disgrace.
As for your other points, I think you'll find Australia was a democracy long before Howard was PM in fact we have ALWAYS been a democracy.
Your other point is also interesting, the Howard government making places like Xmas island exempt from entitlement to refugee status does not mean Howard stopped refugees coming to Australia, it just means Howard tried to stop refugees  trying to claim their entitlements to live here, another major reason his government should be condemned,as they now are.

Love the way bitchin' leftards turn a discussion on Rudd's FAILURES to John Howard.
It  confirms for me the intellectual dishonesty so typical of the  'intellectual elite'.
Not one single defence of any of the issues pointing to Rudd's character, or lack there of.

If  rightards are silly enough to suggest we'd be better off under the rodent you need to have it pointed out what a total retard view that is.You brought up the rodent in your post yet whine when he's downfalls are pointed out. Roll Eyes

There is no point defending Kevy, I'm not his mummy, if he wants to go to strip joints that's he's business, considering that sad beat up of a story appeared before the last election it just shows only the whiny rightards care about it.
I judge some ones character on how they treat other people,as most thinking Aussies do, I, like most Australians find a PM like Howard who invades sovereign states illegally to be of very questionable character.
Thankfully those thinking Australians who lived in the rodents electorate seen fit to give him the humiliation of not only losing government but being only the second PM in history to lose his seat.To those Australians I say a very big THANKYOU.
You should stop reading Piers Akerman, all that w anking will make you go blind.

ruddpower strikes again

Quote:
AUSTRALIA'S international trade position sank deeper into deficit in May as exports plunged by 5 per cent in a difficult global environment.

The trade balance of goods and services in May was a seasonally-adjusted $556 million deficit after a downwardly-revised $282 million shortfall in April, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said.

Economists' forecasts had centred on a $125 million deficit for May.

new high for deficit, new govt borrowing on a weekly basis, new record for unemployment.

yes, ALP truly loves poor people - it makes so many of them !!!!!!!!

Is that the best you've got when the world is in its worst financial crisis for 75 years?
You know why the exports have dropped sprint? the mining boom that existed in the Howard years is over. The Howard government squandered all that money throwing it away at middle class welfare and pork barrelling instead of investing in services and infrastructure. So as is mostly the case, the ALP have been elected to get those services and infrastructure into place that was neglected for twelve long years.
I think you'll find that the current unemployment rate is about a third of the WORST unemployment this country has seen. But while we're on it, the USA and Britain as well as Japan and many others  have, much higher unemployment than Australia, are in recession,we aren't, and have much higher debt than us.Australia has endured this financial crisis better than any other country, Rudd must be doing something right.

And you, dear person, should learn to read, write and spell. I did not mention Howard in my original post.
Then on the other hand, I can't blame you completely, as the education depts Statewide have been Labor controlled for a decade, plus of course the teacher unions for many years longer ......and we all know what the  Labor philosophy is toward education.
Dumb everyone down to the lowest common denominator, and proceed with brainwashing. Smiley
