It may be my contrarian nature, but I cannot help but wonder how long a US citizen would get in Iran, if he threw his shoes at a leading muslim cleric?

We need also take into account, just how stinky the shoes were, and what ongoing psychological trauma has occurred for the victim?

He could still be suffering nightmares about nuclear armed shoes, so taking that into account, and the fact he will probably get pardoned, come ramadan, then I think the sentence is a good one.

I think he was tried in Iraq.
Apparently it was viewed much more seriously as Bush was a foreign head of state.
In the same way they can claim "diplomatic immunity."
Politicians rules for politicians.

Still the shoes did not hit bush, nor could they be called "dangerous weapons"

3 years in a jail there might be a bit nasty.

But Mozz we have to take into account the fact that the only part of Bush's person that may have been damaged was also the least utilized part of Bush's person. The brain. ALL evidence seems to contradict even the presence of said offending organ. It wasn't his God that spoke to him, apparently it was just a wayward echo.

Yes, I wonder why they haven't fled to Syria and Iran and Saudi and Somalia and Pakistan already. That's the problem with US installed people - they don't follow the Party (of Islam) line.

Excellent sense of proportion from Mozz- what would you get for throwing an ugg boot at King Whats'is of Saudi, or the indicted Prez of Genosidia in Africa or assorted dablers in sharia from Africa to Indonesia?

It is excessive.

I mean I suppose it could classify as assault, and it is against a political figure.. But you have to look at this realisticaly..

A: You invaded their country. Whether for better or for worse. People are going to be pissed!
