"If your God is about, we really need his help now." - Calanen

A meditation on destiny.

Calanen wrote on Mar 5th, 2009 at 2:09pm:
....I am an atheist, and truthfully, I hope you are right, and I am wrong.
I just do not believe it......If your God is about, we really need his help now.

Calanen,

Here is an analogy.

We are still children, and we are going to school.

But instead of being observant students, and studying [boring!], we choose to be 'delinquent' children [out at parties, raves, seeking pleasure].

Dictionary,
delinquent = =
1 (typically with reference to young people) showing or characterized by a tendency to commit crime.
2 failing in one’s duty.
3 in arrears: delinquent accounts.

And now so soon, along comes the end of year exam.

Q.
Is it right that we should expect someone else to sit the exam [in our place], and fraudulently claim a false passing grade, for ourselves?

Such a 'hope' would be misplaced, and presumptuous, wouldn't it?

Calanen,

Today we in the West, are slowly being forced to confront our own moral delinquency.

Q.
And who or what, is forcing us, to recognise our moral delinquency?

A.
The sudden influence of ISLAM, upon all of our lives!

Gamling :    "Your men, my lord, will follow you to whatever end."
Theoden :    "To whatever end... Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountains. Like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the west. Behind the hills, into shadow. How did it come to this?"

"How did it come to this?"

Theoden - King of Rohan, at the battle of Helm's Deep.
J. R. R. Tolkien - The Two Towers

So.....
Are we now, fearful of ISLAM?

Perhaps we should be?

But many of we 'children' [children of the West] are still out 'partying',
....like there will be no tomorrow.

And perhaps there may not be!!!       Grin

And now, suddenly this 'end of year exam' is upon us.

And, IF THERE IS A GOD, some of us expect God ['the cavalry'] to 'come riding over the horizon', and save you/us from this unspeakable evil, which threatens us?

LOL.

Dream on!

Calanen,

I know that some ppl on this forum regard me as a 'loon', and not wanting to disabuse them of this opinion of me, i will state that [if you believe what the Bible says, AND I DO] the Bible clearly demonstrates that my God, is able to [physically] manifest himself, within his creation - AND TO SAVE.

Deuteronomy 32:39
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

And i firmly believe that my God could come to our physical aid, in a time of distress,
....BUT WHY SHOULD HE?
....[or should i say, "He already has!"]

Consider....

I don't know if you are a parent....

Q.
Would you love your children, if they had lived a disrespectful life, and disowned you as a parent?

If you were a parent, would you be able to extend your love to your children, under all circumstances?

For instance, many parents of heroin addicts do LOVE THEIR CHILDREN, but they can no longer abide them, or accommodate them in the family home - because of the unsociable conduct of those children.

Dictionary,
abide = =
1 (abide by) accept or act in accordance with (a rule or decision).
2 (can/could not abide) informal be unable to tolerate.
3 [often as adj. abiding] (of a feeling or memory) endure.
4 archaic live; dwell.

And i would put it to you, that we have all, in effect, said to our God [our spiritual parent, IF THERE IS A GOD],

"I am an adult, i no longer need you, i no longer need your guidance."

If when we now cry out to God, in our distress, is God unjust if his reply to us is?,

"You went out into the world, and you have rejected my guidance,
....so, save yourself [Calanen]!"

God has declared [in the Bible] that we [mankind] are all his prodigal children, who have gone astray [in this world].

Isaiah 1:2
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

Jeremiah 4:22
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

And will God 'suffer' us, his wicked children, to [continue to] abide in God's house?

Psalms 5:4
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

John 8:34
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Malachi 3:14
Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?
15  And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.
16  Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18  Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

If now, at this time, we require God's help protection, we should repent.

Matthew 3:5  Then [the people] went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6  And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
7  But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Acts 26:13
At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
14  And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
15  And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
16  But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
17  Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
18  To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
19  Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
20  But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Deuteronomy 32:28
For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
29  O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

Calanen,

All of the choices we make in this life, are our own.

Every choice we make [as an individual] has a consequence.

We live these lives [in such affliction as we suffer], but it is we, who are responsible for all of our own choices in life.

And today, as every other day, it is 'a line in the sand' time for us.

And every day, we all choose which side of that line, in the sand, we stand on.

That is a mystery [to us], and God's wisdom.

And the wicked reject such assertions, and don't want to 'see' that TRUTH.

This life, our lives, are vanity.

All the things which the wicked do, is vanity.

Can a mighty [and wicked] man add one more day to his life?

So why do you/we fret?

Psalms 37:1
Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2  For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

I know that, to all men who have grown to love this world, such an argument is no consolation, AT ALL.

Here, is the fate of the wicked [ourselves included]....

Psalms 7:15
He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.

So many of us, have come to love and depend on this world, and what it 'gives' to us.

What the world gives to us, is a promise, and it is a lie!

Do you love this world?

Do you love your 'rich' life here in Australia?

My advice is, ....Don't.

It is not worth it!

So soon, all of this will pass away.

John 18:36
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Romans 14:7
For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8  For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.iMORE.....

These evil days, are what we must all endure.

We have chosen them.

Will will not avoid them, but it is possible we may find protection in the midst of the evil.

My advice, make a choice to shun the wickedness, which is set before us.

Revelation 18:4
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Matthew 3:8
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

And i urge those who have eyes to see, to pray to God, and call on him personally, for his protection.

Psalms 25:4
Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
5  Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Psalms 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Calanen,

I know that to my fellow travellers [here], i am such a fool.

But i am such a happy fool.

John 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11  These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

John 16:21
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

it is the only Son,
who is close to the Fathers's heart,
who has made him known.

Exodus ch33 v20-23
But my face', he said, 'you cannot see, for no human being can see me and survive.' Then Yahweh said, 'Here is a place near me. You will stand on the rock, and when my glory passes by, I shall put you in a cleft of the rock and shield you with my hand until I have gone past. Then I shall take my hand away and you will see my back; but my face will not be seen.'

The quote from John says no one has ever seen God. In Exodus it says you can see God but not his face, only his back. And there is a place near God. Isn't God's place heaven?

easel,

I don't clearly understand, from your post, what type of response you were hoping for?

But i assume your post relates to what i stated higher in this thread ?.....

Quote:
"....i will state that [if you believe what the Bible says, AND I DO] the Bible clearly demonstrates that my God, is able to [physically] manifest himself, within his creation - AND TO SAVE."

Has God manifested himself, bodily, on earth?

The Bible says yes.

I guess whether you believe this or not [that God has manifested himself, bodily], depends on if you believe the Jewish Bible?

In Genesis 18, Abraham 'entertained' God, when 'the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre'.

Abraham washed God's feet, and God ate some meat which Abraham provided.

Detailed here, on Oz Pol,

"Biblical quotes Muslims ( and others) dislike"
http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1224158764/28#28

Also....

Genesis 3:8
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Did God need to have legs, to walk in the garden?

If he did, God probably had a body too.

Yes?

Also,

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

And was Jesus [as a manifestation of God's presence] at the Hebrews exodus from Egypt????

1 Corinthians 10:1
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2  And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3  And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4  And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

In relation to that question [was the Christ, the 'Redeemer', at the Hebrews exodus], there is also this intriguing comment, attributed to Jesus,

John 8:51
Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
52  Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
53  Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54  Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55  Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
56  Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57  Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58  Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59  Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

All this aside, IF GOD, IS GOD, what would make you think that God cannot manifest himself in whatever form he chooses, if he so wishes?

I met a dude claiming to be God and a guy who this God claimer claimed was Jesus. He then claimed I was the anti-Christ and that this Jesus had to kill me.

He claimed he was God because he was a genuine hermie, both sets of genitals, I have no idea how rare this is.

The 'Jesus' said he didn't think I was anti-Christ/Satan or any of that.

'God' said I was.

I said to this 'Jesus' that if this dude really was God, you wouldn't be able to leave his command. I said he has no power over me, therefore if you can do the same, he isn't telling you the whole story.

I got 'Jesus' to leave him.

Then 'God' said he wasn't God he just got involved in cults and pretended to be God due to being a hermie.

What a sad fvckwit you are weasel.

Other than a glimpse into your mind - we all recoil as one  - what else does this signify? Apart from briefly drawing the curtain to flash that perverse swamp of a mind you are pleassed to call your own, what else does any of this actually say? You can churn god and hermaphridites and madness into one incoherent glob?
Are you in a damp bedsit in your wilted, stained singlet and daks, unshaven, malodourous, pointy- faced, eyes burning yellow?

That is the indelible image you present.i

It's called a cult, soren.

A massive one, in many countries.

One that you seem to support.

Been raping your children lately, soren? Been defecating on them lately, soren? Been eating stillborn foetuses lately, soren? Got friends in politics, soren?

Yadda,

I thank you for going to the trouble of make that post for me. I do not believe in God, I just don't. I'm willing to accept I may be wrong however.

Although you seem to say, perhaps God will leave us to be destroyed by Islam as a punishment for our wickedness. I am not sure, there seems to be more wickedness present in the Islamic world if anyone was to be punished. Misfortune seems to be equally visited upon both the righteous and the wicked.

There may also be people who will appear and combat Islam effectively. The Lord does work in mysterious ways...

As for me and my rich life in Australia - it's not so rich. It was richer in the States.

Calanen,

I have no special knowledge of how this conflict with ISLAM will play out.

I know that God is real.

I know God has a purpose for us, and i know that God is loving and just.

I know that this 'reality', is what i would term a 'construct'.

I know that God hates our [learned] pride and vanity.

Psalms 69:30
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
31  This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
32  The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
33  For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

Isaiah 57:15
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
16  For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

We, are the 'prisoners' of the earth [Psalms 69:33, above].

Lamentations 3:31
For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
32  But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33  For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34  To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

We are essentially spirit [beings], who for a 'short' time are 'locked' within our earthen bodies.

In the Bible our God, is sometimes referred to as 'the LORD of hosts'.

The phrase, 'the LORD of hosts', gives 236 hits in the KJV Bible.

Our earthen body, is the host for our spirit, which comes from our God.

We are his creation, we are his 'children'.

Our God, is the LORD of these 'hosts', these 'temples'.

The Temple of God.

So, read this next verse, and understand!,

Psalms 5:4
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

Jeremiah 9:23
Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
24  But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

Quote:
Misfortune seems to be equally visited upon both the righteous and the wicked.

It does seem that way at times, doesn't it!       Wink

1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

We suffer 'affliction' in this life, in this 'reality'.

It is a test, 'going to school' [i believe].

It is the choices we make, which are more important than our circumstances.

It is our choices [in these 'afflictions'] which define who we are.

Quote:

Indeed he does.             Grin

Calanen,

I was speaking here, generally, of Australians.

Anyone born in, or having the right to live within Australia, in recent years, is very privileged indeed [in my opinion].

But that would also apply to all ppl living in, most of the 1st world too.

Have you ever considered people are indoctrinated in to religion in order to be heavily manipulated?

Ie, the Jews returning to Israel, thanks to God. Britain definitely isn't God.

Look, I don't believe it either easel.

But neither of us know for sure. Yadda could be right, we could be wrong.  Neither of us can *know* there is no God, even if we believe so very strongly.
