Quote:I put her outside hoping she'd kill poo. Birds, possums, whatever. That's the cats nature, and we should encourage it. Can't stand owners who try and domesticate their animals and turn them into fat weaklings... That's what went wrong with humans
One day there'll be nothing else to kill but each other. You said in one thread Jim that you starved your cat for a week. What amazes me is that your parents allowed it and if this is the case - it's understandable why you are the way you are. Don't get another pet.
I go along with Mozzaok and Muso on cats, although I did own 2 quite a few years ago that were foisted on me. While I like all animals - we definitely shouldn't have cats in Australia. I've always had dogs, but none of them have ever killed wildlife to my knowledge. They've all totally ignored native birds, fowl, turkeys, lizards, domestic rabbits, guinea pigs etc feeding beside them, probably due to the fact that they've grown up with them and never found them interesting.
If you ever catch a cat with a native animal/bird in its mouth and it won't release it - give it a quick sharp karate chop on the back of the neck to open the jaws - not with enough force to kill it of course, just shock it a little.
