Christian Leader blames fires on Abortion laws...

Fire 'divine retribution', says minister
February 11, 2009
"INCENDIARY" abortion law reforms last year that made Victoria "the baby-killing state" are responsible for the devastating bushfires, controversial Christian leader Danny Nalliah said yesterday.

Message board: Find missing friends and family.
Bushfire Hotline - 1800 240 667
Victorian Bushfire Fund - 1800 811 700
Concerned about family or friends? 1800 727 077

"God's protection has been taken off the state, and Satan is having a go at the nation," Mr Nalliah, senior pastor of Catch the Fire Ministries, told The Age.

Mr Nalliah's Australia Day prayer rallies have been supported by former prime minister John Howard and former treasurer Peter Costello. Mr Costello delivered a televised address to Mr Nalliah's Australia Day prayer meeting last month.

Mr Costello yesterday rejected Mr Nalliah's abortion explanation for the fires as indecent. "To link the death and the suffering of bushfire victims to other political events is appalling, heartless and wrong," he said.

Catch the Fire Ministries today starts a week-long campaign of fasting and prayer to repent the abortion law reforms and other "unrighteous, ungodly, and unjust laws and practices".

CtFM not exactly a mainstream Christian church.

I note his proclamation has been greeted by derision and disgust by other churches and Christians a and just about any other sane person regardless of religion.

Pity Muslims don't do the same.

Exactly Grendel, all sane people condemn this nutbag, and do not refrain from honest appraisal of his idiocy, merely because he calls himself christian.

That is called integrity, something Le stoop, would be unfamiliar with.

He is a crackpot similar to Al-Ikhlas Islamic Network who argued that lighting fires is an effective form of terrorism justified in Islamic law.

However the important difference is that he tries to interpret the event while the Islamic Network encourages to commit the horrific crime.

Stop being Christianophobic and racist. Whatever happened to freedom of religion?

What he said was taken out of context, and was mistranslated. What about the Koran, it says bad things too?

What about the World Trade Centre huh?

Mainstream enough for the [former] PM and Treasurer to support and even give a televised address to the congregation. Can't be that obscure a sect...

The fact he had such high profile support and connections indicates that he's quite mainstream indeed. Sure he's a political liability now...

Well I saw them at the Hillsong...  but that isn't CtFM now is it.  Oh and BTW campaigning at such events isn't "supporting"  BTW.

Oh... you're lying again Abu....  did I use the words "obscure sect"?  hmmm  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  how dishonest of you trying yet again to distract through lies.

Sooooo Abu is CtFM a mainstream Church...?  Hmmmm?  No.  Oh dear, looks like I was right again.
