LATE in his five-hour 14-minute, civil war against Spanish compatriot Fernando Verdasco in the semi-finals, Rafael Nadal caught a delicate piece of a flower as it fluttered in the breeze, and made a wish.
Nadal, who says he isn't usually superstitious, wished he would win the Australian Open.
Yesterday, in the wake of another magnum opus five-setter, the man from Majorca acknowledged that seeing his friend and rival Roger Federer break down after their latest grand slam final had tempered his own joy.
"Was tough situation, a tough moment for him more than me. For sure," Nadal, who was moved to comfort a weeping Federer, said yesterday. "But for me too, no?
"Roger is, we have a relationship and was tough moment for him … too much emotion is there yesterday, no? But probably in the future … that moment on the TV going to be nice, but when you live that moment, it's tough, no?
"Because I can't enjoy 100 per cent the victory because I saw him cry." ______________________________
Im obviously not the only one who thinks he tried to spoil it for Nadal..he cried at Wimbeldon too when Nadal beat him there..
There are many who think he needs to harden up and get a grip.!!!
