Great environment - positive topic
Jan 12th, 2009 at 11:03am

This year the local environment was real great.
Right amount of rain, right temperature, not too many strong winds.
Mandarins, oranges, peaches, apples and grapes in my garden are plentiful. Vegepatch is doing well too and fishing is better then last season.
How all this going in your places?

The veges were a disaster but I'm getting plety of pawpaws, and there's a heap of passionfruit about to ripen. I've even got my first crop of mangoes and bananas.

The dam levels are up quite a bit (Waragamba, Sydney).

As to the fishing, the kingfish recovery rolls on. They were on the deep reefs off Sydney in good numbers and sizes over winter and biting on jigs. Now they are invading the inshore areas. I hooked one which I could not stop on 50lb line and it rubbed the heavy leader off on the reefy bottom. I managed to get one small enough to land the other day (5kg). Not bad for inside Botany Bay! One guy broke his 80lb rod when the king they hooked took a dive near the boat (estimated at 20kg and in the Bay also).

So much for Sydney being overfished  FD!
