Please post any results on hooking mortality studies here.

Did the studies that have been done all provide some sort of protection for hooked fish? Wouldn't this inevitably overestimate survival rates? A tired, stressed, injured fish is going to have far better chances if protected by a cage or something similar than if thrown back in with all the predators.

People who can't distinguish between etymology and entomology bug me in ways I cannot put into words.

Of course they can slip the hook a lot easier as well but thats my choice and I'm comfortable with it. Except when using lures.

I use barb-less hooks as well and if a fish sucks it to deep I just cut the line as close to hook as possible, eventually hooks get rusted away.

Another helpful things are not to handle fish with your bare hands but use wet towel or cotton gloves, keep fish out of the water for as short time as possible, when releasing let them "breath" water first.
