Very good.
When I was younger I worked around there for a couple of years mainly from Mnt Morgan but also from Theodore and little place called Krakow.

Why fish in river is inedible? Did they spill some poison from mines into it?

Do you have pictures of bottle trees there was quiet few of them near Theodore?

I see bottle trees every day. I'll try to remember to photograph them.

My comment re inedible fish is basically the fact that they are freshwater, and I've never been able to eat freshwater fish  Grin

I know the places you mention very well. I remember a few years back when I worked for an Environmental consulting company. We were tendering for some groundwater work in the area, but all kinds of other tenders, including pest control were being explained to the audience in one hit.

One guy who represented a pest control company asked "Do you have many problems with ferals around here ?"

The company representative piped up very quickly "No, they're all up at Mount Morgan"

It got everybody in hysterics. You'll probably understand the joke.

Yes, Mount Morgan is unforgettable experience. I started there when it was still full on mining town and my last job was to find ore extensions  for Renaissance Gold. It was one of the most promiscuous towns on one hand but when I took a local girl upstairs in the pub where I was staying owner told me to go on moral grounds because he was very religious about extramarital sex but not about selling grog.

Muso, do me a favour take all the pictures you reasonably can and post them on. Don't worry about quality or artistics I really want to see how things changed if they did. It also will be your historical records.

BTW, there used to be a lot of good millions years old fossilised trees around  there and some fantastic thunder eggs.

Fossilised wood is common. You can look in some of the local creeks after a big rain and find whole fossilised tree trunks. I took one home once and got it sawn through the middle with a diamond saw. I'll take a picture of that later today. I've been threatened with divorce if I take any more home.  Grin

Thunder eggs - yeah Mount Hay on the Capricorn Highway is the place for those, but there are many other places. If you're into geology, you'll probably remember Mt Scoria near Theodore. Hit a rock and the whole mountain (hill) resonates. During a thunderstorm, some of the noises it gives off are quite incredible. I should make a recording some day and use it as a backing for some grunge/alternative  type music.

I'll be in Adelaide until Jan 3, so you won't hear much from me, but when I get back, I'll get into it.

I've been past Mt Scoria few times but never stopped, when you are a subcontractor you don't own your own time.
I had fossilised tree trunk too but donated it to our local museum.

I won't be here till past boxing day either, go up river and drift down for a few days camping on islands and fishing if the weather permit.

How was your holiday, Tallowood? From what I saw from 30,000 feet, the major river systems in the Southern states look pretty green.

"best ever" (c) Antonio  Smiley

Weather is still great so I go kayaking any time I can.

Ammad, I have to find time to sort and organised my pictures so it will be awhile, may be when rain settles in.

How were your holidays?
