Cults Defy Freedom

Kingdom of Yahweh' cult defies law

A Melbourne cult calling itself the Kingdom of Yahweh has declared itself above the law, refusing to obey road rules, driving with fake number plates and threatening to stockpile dangerous weapons, a report claims.

The cult has written affidavits to the offices of the prime minister, state government and chief commissioner of police, informing them of the group's "autonomy" and intention to disobey the law, according to radio station 3AW.

Do you know anything about the Kingdom of Yahweh? Have your say here.

The group is believed to have been active for at least six months.

One of its nastier tricks is to booby trap fake numberplates with razor blades and sharp rivets, the report said.

At least one police officer was said to have been injured while examining a plate.

One Yahweh affidavit reportedly stated the group's intention to collect firearms without obtaining proper licences or registration.

Eoghan McDonalds, acting superintendent for Victoria Police, said the cult had been around for some time and posed no real danger.

"Usually the contact they make will be a fairly detailed letter, framed in heavily legalistic terms, which state their intention not to regard themselves as subject to ordinary laws," he said to 3AW.

"There's no indication that people who have these beliefs are any particular concern to others."

The group is mainly active in Melbourne's northern suburbs, he said.

I am from a foreign government. This is not a joke. I am authorised to investigate state and federal bodies including ASIO.
