Joseph (Jack) Terrence Thomas is accused of intentionally receiving funds from Al Qaeda in Pakistan between late 2002 and January 2003.

He is also accused of possessing a falsified passport.

Thomas has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Victoria Supreme Court heard Thomas was in training so he could fight with the Taliban when he came into contact with Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden.

The court was told Thomas was given several thousand dollars as well as a plane ticket to Sydney and told Osama Bin Laden wanted a white boy to work in Australia.
