Hilaly did not state Australia has no right to legislate that women may uncover themselves. He indicated that it leads to a loose society that is obsessed with sexuality, but that's about it.

Trad, I've never heard say anything on the issue, please do enlighten us.

As for Muslims who cover themselves, that's their own personal choice, not your business.

Generally laws limit what level of clothing you can take off, not what level of clothing you can put on.

We're talking about public decency and nudity, you're talking about restricting peoples rights to the privacy of their own bodies.

And from the other side of your mouth, you claim to be the big believer in personal freedom.

The analogy is quite relevant.

In Bali, there's people who wish to expose more of their bodies than the law permits, and the society is comfortable with. They should conform to the societies limits of public decency. In their homes they can do as they please.

Likewise in Australia, nudists are free to do as they please in their homes, but in public, they must observe the limits imposed on them by societies standards and the law.

Just because you have no comeback to answer the analogy, doesn't mean the analogy is horrible.

There's a difference between societies standards and religious standards that are at odds with other religions. Most people in Australia would agree with our standards of dress in public (aside from the rare nudist who really does want to parade around everywhere wearing nothing) and if you want to wear more, you are entitled to. However forcing a moral dress code based on one religious view onto people who do not belong to that religion is oppressive, arrogant and typical of Islam. A very intolerant religion and one that is at odds with personal freedom and independent thought.

Well, the Muslim God does not trust it's men to behave correctly if they see any more of a woman's body than her eyes. The Muslim God does not trust it's followers to have a little personal responsibility. The Muslim God does not trust it's lustful men, and blames the female form for their lack of self control. Solution? Cover them up. Cover EVERYONE up! That's the Muslim way.
