Ayaan Hirsi Ali - War on Terror, or War on Islam?

This woman is absolutely inspiring. A gutsy lady who shows her intelligence in many ways. Read her book 'Infedel' if you haven't already done so.................just brilliant.

Is she gutsy, inspiring and brilliant because she actually is? Or because she happens to be speaking against Islam?

Did you read my thread about How to be a muslim reformer? If not you should, it's directed at 'inspiring' and 'brilliant' people like Miss Hirsi Ali.

No. I prefer to read biographies. And I'm entitled to my opinion of who 'I' am inspired by and consider brilliant. But thanks for the tip. Oh, and by the way NO religion inspires or interests me......I don't care for it, people mean more to me. But each to their own.......live and let live.

I am inspired by her courage to stand up and determine her own path and choose her destiny. She is a respectful daughter, kind and thoughtful mother, wife, and human being. She bettered herself, made brave choices and was courageous in speaking out about an upbringing based on religious ideologies which left a lot to be desired.....in MY opinion. Against all odds she stood up to a culture that was going to have her choices taken away from her and has shown how to have a better life if that's what you want. She has been slandered yet maintained integrity. She has not let any man control her and limit her abilities. May more women follow in her path.
She was obviously always brilliant. In an intellectual and emotional way she has proven herself. She is intelligent, articulate and has succeeded in life with a career and family. She has used her personal turmoil to inspire others and that's about it!

I'll give her one thing, she's honest. At least she called the war what it really is, a war on Islam.

I think though she realised after the interviewer pointed out to her, that calling it that is not very 'brilliant' as it would 'inspire' more Muslims to turn further against the West. Smiley

Sorry but I can't really see how she's so inspiring & brilliant, she's an opportunist who realised she could get asylum in a Western country, earn quite a bit of money and get a few minutes of fame, if she just trashed her own culture for the benefit of the Allied propaganda machine.

I find it really interesting that Hirsi Ali trashes her culture and she is 'brilliant and inspirational'...yet Germaine Greer who also trashes her culture is 'vulgar and offensive'.

Grin

But Greer does make me laugh.

Hirsi Ali actually makes me cringe with her clearly erroneous claims. I actually pity her, she has suffered under some cultural customs, and now she has a chip on her shoulder larger then Ularu.

I love Germain too.........you should stop making assumptions, but then you wouldn't be half as interesting! And funny you mention the chip cause I thought it was a trait you exhibited. I started to think there was a connection.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a fraud.. She lied about her life, saying that she was put through all horrible things and made her family look bad to get political asylum which shows that she has no honour.

If she is willing to do that to her own family then what can anyone else expect from her?

May God guide her from her path of stupidity..

Ayaan Hirsi  Ali is an inspirational woman, because she refused to have other people, be they family, or religious zealots, tell her that she must have her life experiences limited by a primitive religious doctrine she could not respect.
She made her own path, and has created a life for herself, that very few muslim women could even dream of.
She is educated, articulate, independent and free to speak her mind.

This does highlight the shocking subjugation that muslim women are coerced into believing is their natural place in life.
We saw mention of Greer, and that she is a proud independent woman can not be denied, we do not need to agree with all her assertions to respect that, but we all can bemoan the fact that no muslim woman in the world can experience that type of freedom.

We see shows like the UK's, "Grumpy Old Women" where women forthrightly, and hilariously, give their views on our daily grind.

Could Islam ever produce a show like this?

I cannot see it, and until they can, their women will remain relegated to the status of sex and procreation tools, and little else.

Would they want to produce a nonsensical tv show is more to the point.

The idea that women have to degrade themselves and walk around half naked and have casual sex with lots of different men 'whenever they choose' to be 'free' is just ludicrous.

Muslim women like Muslim men, have surrendered themselves unto their Creator, neither one is more or less free.

Seems like Muslims believe their lifestyle is better than anyone elses, they are more moral than anyone else, their families function better than others and only they have the truth!!!! How many other religions see themselves that way? And in professing their 'perfection' they like to insult others. Try the same respect for others as you like for yourselves: RESPECT  to show consideration for; avoid intruding upon or interfering with to respect others' privacy

Even nobody has shown any disrespect.
We've merely pointed out that Miss Hirsi Ali is an opportunist, who if it wasn't for this war on Islam, would still probably be sitting in Kenya wishing she could dream up some way of deluding the Dutch immigration authorities to accept her.
