Clean Seas ready for yellowtail season

Clean Seas Tuna Ltd's Arno Bay hatchery in South Australia is on track for its fiscal 2008 yellowtail kingfish production season, the company says.

The first broodstock spawning is the first of a number of Kingfish production runs between Clean Seas two hatcheries at Arno Bay and Port Augusta, the company said in a statement.

The spawning eggs, which are being incubated on Wednesday, puts Clean Seas on target to produce Kingfish young ready for distribution between the grow out sites at Fitzgerald Bay, Arno Bay and Port Lincoln.

The company has also announced an addition to its fleet with the commission of specialised harvesting vessel The Ulysses II.

Clean Seas describes the vessel as one of the largest and most sophisticated in Southern Hemisphere

The 32 metre vessel is purpose fitted out to preserve its sustainable seafood cargo under constant cold chain control from ocean to plate and is capable of harvesting up to $1 million worth of Kingfish in one operation if necessary.

The vessel has capacity for up to 100 tonnes of zero degrees water on board.
