Moderating a forum
Mar 15th, 2008 at 12:18pm

Most of us write into forums because we enjoy it and we trust those controlling the forums.  Ozpolitics has a forum moderated by a person who believes he has the right to manipulate and change a persons post.  Even on request - Deepthought has refused to delete a post and continually rewritten my post in his own words.

Is this how a decent forum should be run?  Does a person have the right to ask for his/her post to be deleted by the moderator, but instead have the request ignored and fraudulently rewritten in the moderator's own words.

Deepthought - you may believe you are a good moderator - but you are breaking all forum rules by your actions.  Whether or not you are trying to destroy Freediver's credibility is another matter - but you have no right to humiliate any poster publicly by using their name to reproduce your posts.

It's your post dude.  Where I have added the word 'fart' as I said I would (don't complain you weren't told) I have stated the word was added by a mod.  It doesn't get much clearer dude.

However the fact remains that you don't have the facility to delete your posts in any thread.  Why do you think you should have it in one forum only?

Why not accept responsibility for yourself (you made the post), why not refrain from posting just to complain (if the topic is of no interest don't read it like other adults) and why not start topics which interest you if farting doesn't (the forum has ample space for your puritanical tyranny).

Don't start reading malice into everything - it only displays your distrustful leftard roots.  Rightys enjoy fun - it is a light hearted thread for people who are tolerant and have senses of humour.  If you are neither feel free to stay away from the thread.

People bitching destroys forums - if you have nothing to say but complaints then go to a forum where there is no fun.

I didn't hear you b!tching when Oceans was deleting all and sundries posts at any opportunity.

You have got to be the biggest hypocrite around Mantra- you show more of your true self everyday. It's rather distasteful.

Every opportunity? Rubbish.!

In my own defence I was only deleting offensive posts as I saw fit[[ a lot of pple cruise thru in guest mode]]..I deleted some if IQs nasty stuff [ and you know IQ you got very nasty sometimes..DT and I  have different styles of moderating obviously. I did overdo it a bit tho. hey i was new to moderating.

I dont think it is a true Relationships Forum as it stands at present..but it is of interest to some obviously...I do get a laugh out of it sometimes... but then I laugh at some stupid things I must confess...so thats doesnt mean much

I think we should not be too hard on Mantra -she doesnt deserve it..She values her right to post and hates to see anything that jeapordises  thats freedom. [ theres that word again.]

We should all be more tolerant of each other in general. There would be no more problems if that were the case.

Deepthought is fine.

Mantra is fine.

We're all fine.

As a matter of fact I did IQ - obviously you've got a selective memory,  but I didn't post here much at the time, so obviously didn't see everything that was going on.  Although what I saw was mainly inappropriate and if Auz_gurl deleted those posts she answered to the consequences.  Did she alter your posts by the way IQ?  No only you and DT alter the words of others.

DT - I couldn't give a stuff whether you demanded I write something in particular - you're not a lawmaker.  Yes I shouldn't have posted on your crass thread - my mistake, but I still requested you to delete my post, which you didn't.

You had no right to misuse my post in the manner you did.  I had every right to say what I thought - I wasn't being abusive - I found the thread offensive and it was my right to say so.

As a moderator,  and at my request - your duty was to delete my post - but instead you altered it to suit your own agenda leaving a misleading and inappropriate (by my terms) post on there under my name.

Quite frankly IQ & DT your opinion means nothing as far as whether you think I have a sense of humour or not, obviously I do at times, but WHEN IT SUITS ME.  If you two want to roll in the gutter together by all means do, just don't drag me into it.

Yes DT - maybe I shouldn't post here and I doubt I will for much longer if your behaviour as moderator is condoned by the administrator of this forum.  You shouldn't even be a moderator - you have no sense of fairness generally and have an obsessive nature.

Is this a rational statement?   Obviously I would accept responsibility for my post if you hadn't changed it fraudulently, so it no longer consisted of my words.

I'll do you a favour DT.  Could you please delete my post as requested, promise not to alter any others of mine on the Relationship Forum and I will not write back in here.  Obviously I can't deal with this ganging up mentality, but I don't want to leave any of my posts up that are not my words.

I say.  I expect you will realise you are a bit hypocritical calling me obsessive?  Who's the dude who has posted a bunch of posts complaining about a fart thread which clearly spelled out it was a fart thread, and who's the dude who even complained in the fart thread that what was said would happen, actually happened?

If you don't like the thread an adult would not have posted in it.  Have you seen me posting in threads complaining about the thread I am contributing to?  If the thread is of no interest to me I have the option to be an adult and let those who are interested in it enjoy it unmolested.

And farting is not exactly in the gutter.  Do you fart?  Does anyone you know fart?  Are you aware of what a fart is?

And if you choose to resist posting because someone posted a thread about farts and you spat the dummy perhaps you should.  Perhaps you need a forum you can dictate to.  A forum where people have to do what you say. Is there a Greeny forum especially for people with God complexes?

Then you should have read the title of the the thread and the post made by the moderator of the forum before you posted.

It's plain to anyone who reads it what has been added-

Accept responsibility for posting one of your whining rants in a thread that was clearly marked and learn to live with your mistakes- Voting left would be one and this would be another....tough bikkies

No. Take responsibility for your actions and the consequences.  It's character building.

Incidentally stop being hypocritical, you said this

mantra wrote on Mar 15th, 2008 at 5:39pm:
- I wasn't being abusive -

But you also said this

mantra wrote on Mar 14th, 2008 at 7:04am:
- not with idiots like you -

Now unless you call your family and friends idiots I suspect you used "idiots" as an abusive term.  Stop being immature mate, it's unseemly in a grown up.  But you have proven your leftard roots.  You have proven me right.  I told you that in my experience leftoids inevitably resort to insult and you disagreed.  I'm right aren't I.

DT - you're a bully - plain and simple.  Say whatever you want, but as far as I'm concerned and no doubt others who read this - you are being allowed to harrass posters and get away with it.

I did not liken you to an idiot until the 3rd time you made alterations to my post.

If that's the worst that has been said to you, then you are lucky.

Your attitude is very intimidating DT - whether you're aware of that fact or not.  No-one should feel this helpless on a community forum and post something and then have it changed without permission.  Obviously you've had a free reign here for a very long time - to do whatever you want, say whatever you want, monopolise these forums with pages and pages of useless, repetitive quotes and unsubstantiated material - even fraud.  You don't even wait for an answer from anyone before you proceed with your multiple posts. 10 posts from DT to every response.

I am not taking responsibility for something that I didn't say.  You are a serious liability to Ozpolitics.

DT-
Mantra is one person who places pride in her posting...its very important to her what her words convey, this is WHY she is upset.
She took a chunk out of me once  for moderating a bit too heavily [ taking offensive posts and a couple of hers with it] and I realised straight away that I ought to think before I tampered with the written word of another poster.

If you plagerise or have less than the utmost respect for the work of another person ,in the real world you will be penalised for it.
You who considers your self an educated man..ought to know at least that much.

You ultimately have no right to tamper with the work of an another person.[ even if it is in fun..not everyone sees it the same way]

Thats just the way it is Im afraid.

Ill say no more but thats how I see it. You know Im right.

The only serious liability I see here is you Mantra because you fail to read the written word and you fail to take responsibility for your own actions.

Maybe you should try and learn from your obvious failings rather than trying to change the rules to suit yourself and place the blame on the moderator when clear rules were set out from the beginning?

Are you dyslexic or retarded? Maybe that would be ok for DT to delete your post on compassionate grounds?

A bully?  I did what I said I would do and you haven't stop complaining since nor once taken responsibility for your actions.

Here, try this.   Did you see the post which said if you do not use the word 'fart' I would add it for you?

Did you see that all I did was add the word 'fart' to the post exactly as I said I would?

And did you see that immediately after that single added word I also added a statement saying the word was added by a mod?

Once you answer those you will see you have lost touch with the reality of the fact that this is an internet forum and you are doing your block about one simple word.  Nothing in your post was removed - the only thing added was exactly what was said would be added.

Tell me again - and this time explain it because name calling is very immature (unless you belong to the Greens)  - why I am a bully for doing what I said I would do without subterfuge or deceit?

If anyone here is bullying it is you - you are the one making threats and blaming Ozpolitic's problems on me.  Do you see the irony of your hypocrisy?
