Unusual basil plant
Feb 25th, 2008 at 4:38pm

I recently planted a packet of basil seeds which were of the common variety(green).  The first plants to emerge had an attractive serrated or slightly frilled edge.  I'm aware one of the purple cultivars has a jagged edge.  Following this initial unusual crop the subsequent herbs had reverted to the norm.  Has anyone else encountered this?   I'm hoping to gather seeds from the frilly leafed plants and see what transpires with any new growth.

No idea sorry. You could try googling the varieties listed here:

The glossy nightshade growing in my backyard develops a variety of leaf shape depending on the age of the plant, sunlight etc:

You could also try asking on gardenweb.com
